Judith and Desiree had agreed to meet at the market. it was an extremely sunny day and the air was warm and humid. Judith stood about searching for Desiree.

"who are you searching for?" said a familiar voice. "oh, uhm.." Judith turned around and paused. "I believe that that would be you."

"would it?" the woman with raven hair grinned.

"I am certain." the brunette stated. Desiree reached out for Judith, taking her hand. she dragged her along to look at what the stands had to offer. a blush creeped on to Judith's light beige skin.

Desiree came to a quick stop, Judith almost trampling her. "what is it?"

"the flowers," Desiree began, "they look so beautiful." she leaned forward and breathed in the floral scent. taking one in her hand.

"they do don't they, would you like one?" Judith asked.

"oh, I would love one but I have no room in the budget for such." Desiree smiled small.

"I could get one for you." Judith looked back for the other's reaction. "I would not want to burden you with such."

"there would be no burden." Judith picked up one of the flowers."how about this one?" the brunette asked, showing a pale pink flower

"oh it is very lovely, but I cannot accept this." she said shaking her head.

"please." Judith pleaded. she handed money to the vendor and placed the flower in Desiree's hands.

Desiree's face lit up and she leaned forward and embraced the figure in front of her. "thank you," she said quietly. the hug felt as if it lasted longer than it actually had. and maybe longer than it should have.

"girls." said a voice in a harsh and cold tone. Judith pulled away from Desiree quickly stepping back. leaving a frown appearing on Desiree's face, souring her features.

"Mr. Solomon," Judith began to speak, "how are you on this fine day?"

"Judith. I was fine before I viewed the display in front of me." Mr. Solomon looked at the two, disappointment etched onto his face. "do you not worry? people are sure to talk."

"whatever do you mean?" Judith asked innocently, "what is there to talk about?" she looked to Mr. Solomon. "do not play dumb with me girl. you are sure to know of your indiscretions."

"sir you are greatly mistaken. it were merely two friends hugging." said Desiree. "and that's all it will be." Mr. Solomon examined the two and then walked off.

"I am so very sorry that you had to deal with that." Judith apologized. "it was nothing, we are only friends after all."

"yes, right. friends." Judith frowned.

Desiree studied the other's face. "meet me at the tree later this night. would you?"

"certainly."
