Around 7:30, guests started arriving. Princes and princesses from different kingdoms all around. Dean smiled but inside he was nervous. He could meet his future wife. Or, perhaps a husband. But, John wouldn't approve of that. No, Dean had to find a bride. A wife. And that was what he had every intention of doing.
Dean made his way around the room, introducing himself to a lot of princesses and dancing with them for a bit. So far he'd found.......no girls that peaked his interest. And he'd already gone through more than half of them.
'I was afraid this would happen.' Dean thought to himself as he scanned the room for another princess to talk to.
He looked around for about 3 minutes, before his eyes landed on someone. A man. He couldn't keep his eyes off of him, no matter how hard he tried. He was about 6'0, he had dark hair that was combed neatly, bright blue eyes, and light tan skin.
'Oh shit.'
Dean stared at the man for a couple minutes before forcing himself to look somewhere else. He swallowed hard and tried to take his mind off of the man, but it was terribly hard to do so. He searched the room for his parents, and found his mom standing near a corner talking to one of the princesses. He quickly made his way over to her.
"Where's dad?" He asked.
"Oh, he left. He had to go deal with some stuff. He should be back later though, why do you ask?" Mary replied.
"Nothing. It's a great party. Thank you mom." He quickly hugged her and left.
Mary just chuckled and continued her conversation with the girl.
A half an hour went by, and Dean found himself looking at the man once again. He took a deep breath, and decided to at least be nice and introduce himself. He walked over to the man.
"Hello, I'm prince Dean. What's your name?"
"Oh. Hello your highness. I'm Castiel, I'm a prince from one of the kingdoms nearby." The man smiled and bowed slightly. Dean bowed back.
"Are you enjoying the party?" Dean asked, making small conversation.
"Yes. By the way, happy birthday!"
"Thank you." Dean smiled.
The two talked for a little longer, and hearing the man speak was like heaven to Dean's ears. He blushed ever so slightly, but nothing super noticeable. Every once in a while he would look around, making sure nobody was staring at them. He suddenly had a thought, and couldn't stop the words before they were coming out of his mouth.
"Hey, would you like to go out to the garden? I need some air." He asked.
"Sure." Castiel replied, setting down his drink and following Dean outside.
They walked on a path for a bit, talking and enjoying the scenery. For a moment or two, Dean felt genuinely happy. As if, he couldn't care less what his parents thought about him. Castiel was really nice, and treated Dean really well.
"What's your favorite childhood memory?" Castiel asked as they down on a nearby bench.
Dean thought about it for a moment, then smiled.
"When I was 7, I tried to pull a prank on one of the maids by hiding her shoes in my room, but she ended up finding them later that day when she cleaned my room. Looking back, it's pretty dumb. But hey, I was only 7. And I know it sounds boring." He chuckled. "I'm not sure why this memory is one of my favorites, it just is."
Castiel chuckled as well.
"What's your biggest goal as of now?" Dean asked.
"Find someone to get married to, have a happy life together, maybe one day have kids."
"Oh. Is there anyone in particular that peaks interest?"
"I don't know. Maybe." He looked at Dean and smiled.
"Who?" Dean asked.
Castiel said nothing, and just kept looking at Dean. After a couple minutes, Dean figured it out.
"Oh! I um.. I, I don't.." He started.
"You don't, feel that way about men? I mean, it's okay if you don't I'm not trying to push you or anything. I'm sorry, I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable." Castiel looked away quickly.
(Don't worry the plot twist is coming up soon)
"No, it's not that it's just, I've never met anyone who liked me in that way. I mean, I probably have, but, nobody's ever told me."
"Really? No one?" Castiel asked, looking at Dean again.
Dean shook his head. He looked at Castiel's eyes and felt himself smile. His heart was beating so hard he was sure Castiel could hear it. The next thing he knew he was leaning closer and placing his lips on the other man's. He felt all his worries slowly melt away as he kissed the man. Castiel was shocked at first, but quickly kissed him back, placing his hand on Dean's cheek.
Dean held the back of Castiel's head and leaned closer, deepening the kiss slightly. They kissed for a few seconds longer, before Dean realized what was happening. He pulled away before speaking.
"Ah screw it." He said, leaning over to kiss Castiel again.
A couple minutes later, they both pulled away, Dean smiling wide.
"Let's get out of here." He said.
"Sound's fine to me." Castiel chuckled.
With that, Dean grabbed his hand and they ran away to Cas' castle, and they lived happily ever after.
