5 (Awake)

Wei Ying stayed asleep for a whole week. In that week Lan Zhan's condo was fully renovated  and Wei Ying was moved their.

Since Lan Xichen had built a tank Wen Qing suggested that it should be filled with salt water since it will help heal the deep wounds.

They still didn't know the name of Wei Ying so Wen Qing decided to call him Red just until he wakes up and tells them his name.

Right now Lan Zhan is carrying Wei Ying towards the renovated room. The large tank almost took up the whole room space. There was only a little space left big enough for a small coffee table and a chair.

Lan Xichen helped carry Wei Ying to the top of the tank where it's left open. Slowly they placed him into the water where his legs immediately turned into a beautiful reddish black tail.

"Alright boys leave him be. He'll heal on his own now and I've already done my part, his body just needs more rest and salt water." Wen Qing said as she stood in front of the tank.

Right on the otherside of the thick glass was Wei Ying in his beautiful glory. And then something unexpected happened.

Smoke. Black like smoke suddenly appeared around Wei Ying's body. As well as an eery red glow.  It made Wei Ying look like he was being summoned to hell.

"What the...." Wen Qing mumbled as she too got shocked.

Lan Zhan placed his hand on the glass separating him from the sleeping mer. He had a worried look on his face.

"I guess he isn't like the previous ones I helped before. But I know a thing or two about what's going on."

"What is it?" Lan Xichen asked.

"Every mer has an ability or power within them. And this might be Red's powers. We don't actually have to worry too since his power will do its thing and heal his deep wounds."

"Then we wait?" Lan Zhan finally decided to speak up though his eyes never left the sleeping mer's face.

"Yes. All we have to do now is wait for him to wake up."

......

The wait took about 3 days before Wei Ying finally opened his eyes. It was midnight when he woke up from his deep slumber.

His whole body was all healed up with no scars visible from the tip of his tail to his head.

He swam around the huge tank he was in and saw the handsome guy who was always bringing him his favorite drink.

"So handsome guy lives in this weird place? But why the huge tank.... Is he a fish too?" Wei Ying thump his other hand onto the other as he came into realization but that was broken by a lady who came in with something in her hands.

Wen Wing stood still the moment her eyes anded on silver ones. She was shocked to see Red finally awake that she dropped the mugs she was holding.

This startled Lan Zhan awake,  his eyes alert as they darted within the four corners of the room before landing on the handsome face of the man he saved.

"Oh! Good you're awake handsome. Now can you tell me how to go back to the sea,  my brother might be worried sick looking for me." Wei Ying said but his words didn't reach the ears of the two people in the room.

It sounded muffled to Lan Zhan and Wen Qing since he was speaking underwater. While Wei Ying continued speaking.

"Right. Jiang Cheng might break my tail if he finds me so on second thought can you let me stay here handsome? I don't wanna go back to the sea with a tsundere guy waiting to break my precious tail in half."

This went on for a while before Wen Qing finally got his attention as she tapped the glass barrier separating the water and Wei Ying from them. She pointed up before gesturing to her mouth and ears.

It took a while before Wei Ying finally understood. So he swam up and his head broke the surface. He glanced down at them before smiling and waving his wet hands.

"Oy. Hehe sorry I forgot humans can't understand us when we are underwater. Anyways I was just asking if I could stay here like forever? I don't want to go back to the sea since my brother will definitely break my tail in half if he finds me."

Lan Zhan blankly stared while his ears was a dead give away as they were red.

"Red can you tell us your name so we can address you properly?"

"Red? Oh you got that from my tail right. The names Wei Wuxian you can call me Wei Ying." Wei Ying winked before diving back down where he can be face to face with the handsome man.

Wen Qing again gestured up so Wei Ying swam back up.

"Well Wei Wuxian do you remember what happened to you?"

"What happened to me? Well.... I wanted to get the pearls of giant clams and had to pass the fire corals but on my way back I got attacked by giant eels and injured myself from a fire coral that attracted the sharks. That's about it."

"Glad you remember well. I'm Wen Qing and this guy over here is Lan Wangji, he was the one who saved you and brought you back. I'm the one who help heal your wounds the best I can with modern human medicine."

Wei Ying didn't reply, instead he went back under the water and took out a pouch out of nowhere. He then took small pearls out before doing his magic.

His hands waved around elegantly as the pearls followed every move until a bracelet is formed. Once done Wei Ying went back up. Black smoke appeared and carried the bracelet down to Wen Qing, it then wrapped the bracelet around her wrist.

"This is my thank you for saving my life. I have heard of a few humans that knows of our kind and helps us when in need. It seems that you are one of them."

Wen Qing could only smile before she excused herself. She could feel th glare from a certain someone so she didn't want to stay there any longer and so she excused herself.

Once she left Wei Ying's attention was turned to Lan Zhan who stared at him with a blank face but his eyes were full of admiration.

"Right handsome- I mean Lan Wangji thank you also for saving me. I probably would've bled to death if you hadn't found me."

Instead of going under Wei Ying let his hands do their work as they took out the rest of the pearls except it was bigger than Wen Qing's.

And instead of a bracelet the pearls were made into a beautiful flower shape with leaves made of Wei Ying's powers. The flower was one of a kind, only seen in the deepest depts of the sea. At night it illuminates.

And since it was still night time the flower lighted up a beautiful blue glow.

"This is the pearl version of the Twilight Sea Flower, I wanted to give you a gift for the drinks you always leave by the sea-"

"You went and got the pearls then got injured?" Lan Zhan's voice was laced with shock as he finally knew the real reason why Wei Ying was badly injured. It was because of him that he ventured to the dangerous place and got hurt.

"Hey it's okay. I was careful but those eels were clearly waiting for a prey and I fell on that category since giant eels are known to hunt and kill mers that are all alone." Wei Ying gave the flower pearl to Lan Zhan who delicately held it in his hand.

He was afraid he might destroy the hard work Wei Ying did to get the pearls and make it into a beautiful -unknown to humans- flower.

"You like it?"

"Mn."

Wei Ying perked up as Lan Zhan gave a slight smile. This made him so happy that he began swimming around the tank, going in circles while laughing loudly.

A sight Lan Zhan engraved in his memory as his lips quirked up into a small barely noticeable smile.
