triggers - shitty stepmom and cursing may be underage drinking if you are from the US
"𝗪𝗼𝘄, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲."
Y/N chuckled. "Why wouldn't I?" She asked. It took a while for Carl to answer as he was once again staring at her. He thanked God for creating sunsets as the golden rays of the sun made her look angelic. "I don't know. I'm Anthony's 'friend'." He snickered.
Y/N rolled her eyes, punching his shoulders playfully. "You're better than 'Anthony's friend'." She giggled.
Carl felt butterflies erupt from his stomach as he smiled at her. "So where we off to?"
Y/N pouts, "You're the one who suggested we hang out yet you're the one asking where are we heading?"
Carl pursed his lips, "You don't mind us hanging out at your place, right?" He asked. Y/N grins, before it dropped into a small frown, "Sure. If Beth is not around." She scoffed.
"You ungrateful whore! Always nagging me, 'Beth, where's dad?' 'Beth, what's for dinner?' Beth this, Beth that! Now I know why you're mom left you." the woman in her 20s slurred. Y/N rolled her eyes and she managed to catch this. "Don't you roll your eyes to me you insolent cunt." She narrowed her eyes at Y/N who aggressively washed the dishes.
Beth was the girl's father's girlfriend who lives in their house rent-free. She wasn't sure what her father saw in her but she wasn't seeing it. All she saw was a 22-year-old screw-up, a gold-digging sloth who wasted all her father's life savings on cocaine and beer. If only her dad wasn't always gone almost every 24/7, then maybe Beth would've been a different person. She can only wish.
Cherry Bomb.
Y/N peeked through the window to see no one was inside their apartment. She sighed with relief as she inserted the keys, unlocking the door. She and Carl enter. "The place looks cleaner than usual." Y/N shrugged. "Wonder if Beth had hit her head and changed already." She joked. Carl snickered."Want a drink?" she asked as she made her way to the small kitchen connected to the small living room. "Uh, sure."
Y/N reached for the fridge and noticed a letter stuck to the door of it with a magnet.
'Y/N, me and Beth are going to NY for a while for some business trips of mine. there's some money on the counter. take care'
She shrugged and crumpled the paper and opened the fridge to grab a beer if Beth didn't finish it all.
A smile crept on her face as she saw there were a couple more beers left. She looked back at Carl who was looking around, seated at the couch, before she grabbed two cans of beer and made her way beside him.
Handing him one of the beers, he whispered a thank you.
The two sat in silence, taking a few sips of their beer. It was Y/N who broke the silence, "You like Eminem?"
Carl looked back at her, his eyebrows raised in amusement. "Yeah. I like Eminem."
She smiled and made her way to the stereo. Pulling out a CD case and inserting a disk into it. Carl watched her and he wonders if her dad can buy expensive beer and drugs why couldn't buy a new stereo. Maybe upgrade to a Bluetooth speaker? Anyway, it's not his business.
Eminem started blasting from the stereo speakers and Y/N hummed in content. Carl watched her, as she swayed her head with the music. She was trying, to forget about him. She was drinking and trying to have a good time without thinking about Anthony.
Carl admired her. How she mumbled the lyrics as she bobs her head to the song. How she's trying so hard to distract herself. He smiled to himself, taking a sip from his beer. He also began to mumble the lyrics and Y/N looked at him with an amused look.
He looked back at her as he began to sing a little louder to Eminem. He sets his beer on the glass center table/coffee table and stood up, a wide grin on his face as he gestured for Y/N to get up and dance with him too. She laughed and shook her head, still singing along to Eminem, but he wasn't having it and pulled her up which she playfully rolled her eyes at him.
She took a big gulp of her beer before setting it down and dancing around to Eminem with Carl.
She felt free of problems whenever she's with him at that moment. Like life couldn't get any worse or better. She was living in the moment. And she took a few glances at Carl who had this wide smile that made her heart melt. How can someone be so caring? So sweet? She refused to believe someone decent was still out there but Carl was the definition of decent, personality-wise. She'll admit she found him rather, really, really attractive. Thinking about this made her cheeks red but she pushed it, she was just tipsy, she said to herself.
She was happy though. That he was there for her.
