A LOUD CRASH WAS HEARD BEHIND THE SCREAMS THAT YOWLED outside the tattered window of a small house in the middle of all the chaos. Soft sobs and whispers came from inside the house as a little girl, a little boy and an older girl huddled in a dark corner. She petted and stroked their heads as she shushed and cooed at them in an attempt to calm them down.
"Melle make it stop. Please." The little girl cried into her shirt as she gripped her tighter. All three of them jumped when they heard the shriek of a woman outside the door before her screams were cut short. By what? Armelle doesn't know.
"Shhh...it's gonna be okay Robyn. We're okay." She whispered.
"Why are they here? What happened to mommy?" The boy, Jessie whispered up to Armelle.
She only looked at him solemnly. She didn't have an answer to either of those questions.
A loud banging came from the front door of the house as the person on the other side screamed.
"LET ME IN! THEIR GONNA KILL ME, YOU BASTARD LET ME IN!" It was a male voice. One filled with pure and unadulterated terror as they desperately pounded at the door.
"Go away!" Robyn screamed out before Armelle's hand quickly covered over her mouth. "Robyn!" She whisper yelled.
"I FUCKING HEARD YOU, OPEN THIS FUCKING DOOR." He yelled out.
Armelle squeezed the twins tighter as the banging never stopped. She squeezed her eyes shut as she prayed to whatever higher power was above them.
The banging had suddenly stopped.
And the door to the house was swung open. She could see the light coming from around the corner from the wall they were hiding behind.
Boot like foot steps walked into into house as they searched the living room of the building. Armelle had to act. And quickly.
She quickly grabbed both of their hands as she pulled them to the small window in the bedroom. She pulled it open as quietly as she could. She gently helped Robyn up and out of the window checking behind her every second, she lifted Jessie up as he quickly jumped out the other side, which only left Armelle.
Just as she gripped onto the window sill and kicked her leg up onto the edge, the creaking of the door behind her made her jump as she turned to see a hooded figure standing in the doorway.
"HEY!" He yelled at her, she quickly jumped to the otherside as he chased after her. Armelle grabbed both of the twins hands as they ran through the dark alleyway behind their house. She could see all the debris and blood all over the cobblestone paths that traveled across the town.
They even ran pass a body missing its lower half, it's guts and intestines scattered and smeared across the ground the smell was terrible and the blood pools on the ground were everywhere so much so that Armelle lost her footing on one of the pools of blood.
