We set out almost immediately. Since I already had my armor on, all I needed was to get a horse. We walked out of the big castle gates and into the stables. The stables themselves were pretty simple. Wood and a stone fireplace to keep the horses warm in the winter.
Inside was ten to fifteen horses in stalls. The horses were are all different colors. There was brown, tan, black, and a black with red eyes? Did I see that correctly. I walk over to the horse and nickered. Legolas came over and the horse started nuzzling him.
"Good boy, Shadowmere," He said affectionately.
"Is this yours?" I asked. "Never mind you have all the cool stuff," I said reluctantly. He laughed.
"Yes Shadowmere is mine but I had to pay a great price to get him. Everything comes with a price. Nothing's free," He said with a heavy sigh full of heartache. It was if he was remembering the price he had to pay to get Shadowmere."What price did you have to pay," I said. Immediately I knew I was on a sore subject.
"I lost my best friend. She did backstab me, but she was a good friend in the end...,"He said, eyes moistening."Oh," I said. I wish I could've said more to make him feel better. The words weren't with me. I was never good with sentiment. I finally formed a sentence.
"I feel you Legolas. I lost my family a couple of days ago. If there is anything you won't me to help you with, just ask," I said trying to play a little sentiment in the sentence.
"I wish I could remember my family. All I remember is waking up in a cart, hands bound. I couldn't remember anything. Ulfric was there and some of his soldiers. At that moment I knew I had to be close to those guys for the rest of my life. I've been running to long. Everybody I get close to ends up abandoning me or dying," He said sadly as a tear drop ran down his cheek.
"Hey I'm your family now, don't worry I don't fancy on dying. You can count on that," I said not believing what I just said.
"Hey we should get going. Get on the black one over there in the corner," He said as he climbed onto Shadowmere. I walked into the corner and found a slightly small horse but perfect size for me. I hoped on the horse.
"What's his name," I asked Legolas.
"Cladder," He replied. I repeated the name in my head. Cladder was a ready. I looked at Legoals and his eyes said he was ready. When we finally agreed we set off.The path was rough terrain. Rocks were every where. Making the ride more bumpier. We came across pack of wolves. Legolas snarled an inhuman way. I didn't think much of it but it sounded like a snarl of a wolf.
We rode for another hour. At least I thought it was an hour. I wasn't sure because I moved to a different place and time was different here.
We finally got to a stone place.
"What are we doing here," I asked.
"Our quest," He said. I was nervous what was in store.*in the crypt*
We crept along the wall into the crypt. We had some torches lit. I was shaking I did not know what to do. Sadly I offered to take the lead. Worst idea of my life.We walked into a large room. All of a sudden a dead thing came to life. The another. Soon there was five surrounding us. I held up my shield. I gripped my my handle of my sword. I advanced.
I fell down because I slipped. I used this to this to my advantage. I slid under the creature. I sliced underneath it. I killed it and move onto the next creature. The name of it popped into my head. This creature was called draugr. I shivered. I heard about these things before.
I killed the draugr I was fighting. I looked over at Legolas how was battling another draugr except he was in the ground. This draugr looked stronger than the rest. They were about 50 feet away.
I pulled out my bow and I nocked an arrow. I have never shot a bow before.
I calmed down. I steadied my breath. I saw Legolas about to die. I pulled away my fingers letting the arrow fly. I watched as if everything was in slow motion. The arrow glided towards the draugr. The arrow was originally aimed for the chest. But it found another target area. The arrow hit the draugr with great force. The arrow went through the it's head. Immediately the draugr feel to the ground. I ran over to Legolas.
"Hey you ok?" I asked him.
"Yea. Great shoot," He said.
"Thanks," I replied. I slung my bow over me. Then I held out my and he grabbed it and I helped him up. He pointed towards a chest. I walked to the chest. I opened it and inside was a bag of gold and a golden dragon tooth. I looked up at Legolas and he shrugged. I put the gold and the tooth in my bag and we left.
