Chapter 2- You only have one life

It lunges towards you and-
*crack*
Theres a loud crack. Your heart rate goes up even more. You hesitantly open your eyes, scared of what your about to see. But when you open them you see a dead creature with a fire extinguisher on it's head. You look up and see Syera panting from carrying the extinguisher. "Are you okay? Are you hurt? Did it bite you?" Syera asks. You reply with a shaky voice, "Yes I'm- I'm- alive?" "You are" Syera says with a sigh of relief. "But there's more of them coming! We need to get out of here! Come on!" She reaches her hand out to you. You grab it without a second thought. Syera pulls you up and you both start running. "Where are we going?" You say while looking behind you. "We need to get up those stairs!" Shouts Syera. "What?" You ask. "They can't climb up stairs! Or I hope at least..." She says with unsteady breathing. "Oh yeah" you say and start running even faster. Once you both get to the stairs you run as fast as you can. The screams of other students echo in the hallway. It makes you even more scared. But once you get up the stairs and into the new floor, a group of those creatures look at you and Syera. They start shuffling towards you two. "Oh no... no no no no no no no!" Syera says. You frantically look around the hallway, searching for an escape. And you see an extra flight of stairs leading to the rooftop. "Those stairs! We need to get up to the rooftop! Let's go!" You grab her hand and start running as fast as you can. You let Syera climb up the stairs first. Then it's your turn but by the time you start climbing, the pack of creatures have caught up to you. You try to climb it as fast as you can, and as you get on the last step a clammy hand wraps around your ankle. AGAIN! You look down a see the creatures stare at you with their mindless, bloodshot eyes and their hands reaching out for you. Syera's eyes widen and she shouts "No! Kick it off!" You try your hardest to wrench your leg free but it's grip is really tight. You use your other foot to kick it off but another creature grabs it! Syera try's her best to pull you up but your getting pulled down. You start panicking (in your head) "I'm gonna die! What do I do!?" You get an idea. Quickly, you bend your knees in and kick them out, hitting a creatures head in the process. As soon as the creatures let go of your legs, your quickly hauled up by Syera and land on the floor of the rooftop. You take a few seconds to breathe, then you look up and see the last person you'd expect to see...

It's your ex, Joey! "Oh great..." You think to yourself. You take one look at the person standing next to him and see a cute boy. You haven't seen him before though... You get suspicious. Syera asks "Are you okay?" You quickly think to yourself "Oh no! Am I bitten!?" You pull down your sock and see... nothing? Apart from a few scratches and indents left from the creatures nail, your bite free.

You show Syera your ankle and she breathes a sign of relief. You put your sock back on and stand up. "That was close huh?" Joey says. "I'm just glad your okay." "What?" you think to yourself "Joey, my douchebag ex, says that he's glad I'm okay? Wow... that's a surprise"

You respond to Joey saying "Yeah, it was close" "Aylin..." Syera says to you with a scared voice. "Yeah?" You respond, feeling concerned. "Don't ever do that again okay?" she says a bit teary eyed. "You do know I wouldn't get hurt on purpose right?" You reply trying to cheer her up a bit.

"I know I just- I- You have to be more careful. We almost lost you. I almost lost you." You chuckle a bit trying to lighten up the mood. "I'm serious! You can joke around as much as you want but you only have one life. Protect it"

"Okay, I promise" "Come here" Syera says while opening her arms for you to hug her. You take the hint and wrap your arms around her abdomen. She starts to cry a bit and you comfort her. "Okay, sorry to break up the Disney moment but we're still stuck up here on a roof, with creatures, staring at us." says Joey as he gestures to the monsters below you. You slowly pull away from Syera and stand up straight. With confidence you say "Okay your right. So... what do we do now?"
