"WHY?"

You stood outside the court in silence, eavesdropping in an immense conversation between your coach and best friend.

"Why would she be the one?" Demanded your friend, "I have trained better than she has! I spent more time in this court more than anyone."

You felt your heart twinge as her voice rose, "Why does it have to be her? She's nothing but a lousy geek–"

"Are you sure you should be talking like that behind her back?" Your coach asked sternly, concern were laced in her voice.

Unbeknownst to you, a tear slid down your cheek. One after another, your emotions melt into tears and you covered your mouth from sobbing.

"I'm begging you coach." You could hear your friend kneeling down, "Let it be me. I know this better than her, anyone. I–"

"I'm sorry, but she has far better skills than you." Your eyes widen as the coach declined her request, it was then you felt your heart shattered – on what your friend shouted next.

"Because of her superior skills or she's just pretty? She's just as ugly as her disguise!"

YOU FLUTTER your lashes and brush your drowsiness, leaning against the window as you patiently wait for someone.

It wasn't long before someone familiar came into view, you both locked eyes; well technically through your thick glasses.

"Good morning, senpai."

His brown eyes glint curiosity as you walked up to him, looking up as he was tall for you, "You're Asahi–senpai, right?"

"Y–Yes." He nervously replied, "Is there something you want to say?"

"Yes. Please play in the court again." You bluntly stated. Asahi stiffen and anxiously rub his nape before declining your request,

"Sorry, I can't do that." People curiously stare at you two as they passed by, trying to comprehend the atmosphere between you both.

"Why not."

"The thing is, I can't imagine myself breaking though high block." Asahi glumly looked down, "It has completely disappear, I fear being shut down or just maybe I'm scared."

Why do I see myself in those eyes?

"It's not my place to say this but it's normal to fear the worst. Playing a sport you like, has both its advantage and disadvantage – you found your happiness and what you love, but at the same time, you fear the weight of failure or you can't do well." You smiled as you reeled back the moment you stood in the court,

"But the weight is like the ball, you jumped and hit it with your might; it gives you chill. Because no matter how high and tough the wall is, there's always a gap. Sure, you'll begin to feel worried and question yourself – what if this and if that? What if I fail? What if I fall? What if I miss?"
