Chapter Four - Saturday

Come Saturday night, 7pm, the three of us stood outside Drew's front door, dressed in black with glowing facepaint streaked on our cheeks and glow sticks piled up on our wrists. I step forward, and press the doorbell and shortly after, a smiling Drew opens the door.
"Welcome little B!" Drew brings me into a side hug and ushers Felicity and Sophie in.
"Thanks for inviting us!" I place a kiss on Drew's cheek and push through the hallway to get to the kitchen - where the drinks are.

Watching carefully, I pour the vodka into the lemonade in my red plastic cup and grin.
"To us!" The three of us raise our cups and let out a high pitched squeal as the plastic collides.
"Let's dance!" Sophie grabs us by the wrists and yanks us to the living room, where Mr Brightside is being sang, out of tune by a dozen drunk teenagers, their cups raised into the air. I spot Sam, sat on the arm of the sofa, chatting to some blonde girl who's makeup resembles a slapped satsuma. He looks bored as ever and looks up to catch my eyes just as I roll them. I watch as he moves closer to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. The light catches the yellow face paint stripes on his cheeks as he fake laughs, his eyes still on me.

I brush it off, going back to singing and dancing with my friends, taking a large gulp of the vodka and lemonade - which was mostly vodka. The song changes to New Rules by Dua Lipa and my friends and I turn to each other and start blurting the lyrics out as loud as we possibly can. Sophie disappears to refill her drink as two boys make their way over to us - Nate Spencer and Carl Townsend.

We end up playing beer pong, boys against girls. I shut one eye and aim the ping pong ball into the front cup. It bounces in and me and Fliss cheer before hugging.
"We're better than you guys!" I slur, feeling the alcohol sink in.
"No, you're not!" Nate shouts back, and throws a ball to go straight in one of our cups.
"Not fair!" I take the cup in my hand and swallow the vile liquid.

The boys end up winning, but it was a very close and exciting game.

"Wanna dance?" Nate slurs slightly, pushing his curly blond locks from infront of his eyes. I nod, looking over to notice Sam still watching me, and I take Nate's hand. As we start dancing, Sam and the girl also get up and start to dance - what a coincidence. I feel bad for Nate at this point but I start to test Sam, lying my head on Nate's shoulder as the song switches to a slower one, with a steady beat to sway in time with. Sam is still watching so I lift my head up, facing Nate and begin to lean in, feeling his breath, then his lips against mine. Stupidly, I open my eyes, fixate them on Sam to see he is kissing the girl, but his eyes are on me. I pull away and excuse myself to go to the bathroom, nodding at Sam discretely.

I get into the bathroom and keep the door unlocked for Sam.
"Hey, I'm so fucked,"I say once he comes in the room, he shuts and locks the door and turns to me.
"Me too," he says before pulling me towards himself and pressing his lips against mine.
"She was the worst kisser," he mumbles against my lips, "I wanted to be kissing you."
He twists us round so my back is against the door and he moves his hands to cup my face, desperately kissing me.

If this is what it's meant to feel like when kissing, then it was nothing with Nate. Sam's mouth moves perfectly against mine, rhythmically - almost like we're singing a duet. I wrap my arms around his neck and pull at the hair at the bottom of his neck, which he clearly enjoys as his mouth opens to let out a small moan. I take this as a chance to gently pull his bottom lip back with my teeth, pulling him even closer.

"Jesus, Bells," he mumbles, hands now going down to my waist, rubbing my sides in the most heavenly way. He moves his lips down to my neck and I hold my head up, giving him more space to work with. Teeth graze my collarbone, prompting a moan from my mouth, which Sam takes as a sign to try and find more spots like that. Once he's found my soft spot on the bottom of my neck, he pulls at it with his teeth, leaving kisses and no doubt a mark.

"I need to get back to my mates," I pull away from Sam.
"Why?"
"They'll notice if I'm gone for ages."
"Keep this between us, yeah."
"Of course."

I didn't want to keep it secret, I wanted to tell everyone. But if it meant that I'd get to see Sam more, I'd keep that secret forever.

I leave the bathroom first, and thank God there's no queue to witness me and Sam sneaking out of the room. I decide to find my friends and tell them about Sam watching me kiss Nate, but not about us hooking up.

"He was watching me, all the damn time I was dancing with Nate, then we kissed, and they kissed, and we were making eyecontact the whole time," I drunkly ramble to Felicity, pouring myself another drink.
"You need to go get him, girl!"
"I can't. Dean would kill me," I frown.
"Speaking of, have you seen Dean tonight?" Felicity asks and I realise I haven't, he wasn't with Drew or Sam - obviously not with Sam. We scan the kitchen before walking into the hallway to find him...and Sophie...kissing.

"Well if Dean can make a move on your friend, you can make a move on his!" Felicity cheers and I shake my head - I couldn't betray Dean like that, and I never forbid Dean or Sophie from starting something with each other - I'd be a hypocrite.
"I'm going back to Nate, and you should go back to Carl!" I shout in her ear, over the booming music.

Nate ushers me over as he spots me approaching.
"Hi, sorry about that," I apologise, my hands roaming his shoulders in an attempt to relax him as he seems tense.
"Don't worry about it," he winks, "But let's get back to before." He moves a piece of my hair and tucks it behind my ear, then reconnects our lips. Nate pulls away and leads me upstairs, a sickly feeling developing in the pit of my stomach. I shrug it off, me and Sam aren't together, I can hook up with other people. I push Nate against the door, balling his white shirt in my fists as I deepen the kiss. I find myself thinking about Sam again, it's impossible not to after what just happened.

I push Nate away.
"What's wrong? Have I done something wrong?" He holds my arms and looks at me.
"I'm not ready, I can't do this," I state and leave the room, feeling bad but I'd feel worse if I led him on.

I return to the kitchen and go over to Dean.
"Hey, Deano!" I pull my brother into a hug, almost stumbling and tripping over my own feet.
"How's Sophie?" I ask as I lean against the table, my hands out to steady myself.
"Is that okay with you?" Dean leans over and shouts in my ear so I can hear him.
"It's fine!" I nod as I pour out yet another drink.
"Clearly you've hooked up with someone," Dean laughs then I remember my neck.
"Yep, Nate!" At this moment I spot Sam chatting to Drew across the room so I make sure to speak loudly so he can hear.
"Nate Spencer?" Dean asks.
"Yep, that's my man!" I emphasise 'man' and see Sam's eyes flicker over. I also spot Nate coming into the room so I call him over to introduce to Dean.
"This is him," I clutch onto Nate's side for support.
"Hi man," Dean shakes his hand and winks at me.
"Nice one," Dean whispers in my ear, squeezing my shoulder.
"Sam and I are going to head back to ours now if you want a lift back?" My brother asks, finishing his drink.
"But you've been drinking?"
"Yeah - diet pepsi," Dean laughs holding up an empty can, I realise he truly is sober from the way he walks over to Sam - in a completely straight line.

"Put your number in," Nate hands his phone over to me. I type my number into the box - reciting it in my head like I used to when mum and dad forced Dean and I to when they bought us our first phones a few years ago.
"There," I smile, pecking his cheek before going off to round up Fliss and Sophie to take them out to Dean's car, which is parked along the road.
