Sixteen

Scarlett stood in front of the window thinking about everything that she had went through. She lost her mom, gained a love, and a new family. She knew fate would be cruel, but she was happy to have Edward. Meeting him has been the best. Edward walked in and kissed her head. "What's got you thinking, Scar?"

"How everything changed since meeting you." She tells him. "You once said you don't dance."

"I don't, but for some reason, you came along and got me to dance." He tells her. "Everything I started doing is because of you."

Scarlett smiled as she wrapped her arms around his neck. The two started dancing as Joseph walked in. "I hate to ruin this moment, but it's time for us to go to school."

They looked at him as he left and shared a look. "I will kill him the next time our moments are interrupted." Scarlett tells him.

At school, Scarlett walked out of class with Jasper. "I understand what Alice is doing, but should she try to see if this is what Bella wants?" She asked. "This party is like a force."

"It's Alice." Edward said from behind them causing Scarlett to turn and face him. "Sorry."

Scarlett smiled as she kissed him. Jasper shook his head till Alice kidnapped him to get Bella to agree. The two pulled apart to see Jasper gone. "Do you think this party is forcing Bella to celebrate the day she doesn't want to celebrate?"

"It is." He says. "But Alice wants to her to celebrate the day she was born on."

Scarlett nodded, but she knew that was going to be a problem if something happens at this party. She may not know Bella much, but she does know the girl is clumsy. She saw Bella looking in the bag and sighed as this was something she had no control over. Edward kissed her head causing her to smile. "Don't worry too much about it." He said. "I will keep you safe if anything happens."

Scarlett nodded as she walked away with Edward to their next class. She still thinks this party was being forced on someone who wants to be young forever.

After school, Edward was wondering what was taking so long for his mate to come downstairs. He opened the door to their room and stopped at the sight. He didn't know how to respond. She looked amazing. "That dress is making me change my mind about this party."

"Edward, I will kill Alice." She said as she looked at herself. "I didn't ask for this short of a dress."

"Well, I can tell whatever the reason it was to get that for you has me wanting to rip it off..."

"Don't you dare." Alice said. "That dress is on her because I knew she would look amazing in it."

Scarlett looked at her friend and shook her head. "It's more like I'm teasing Edward."

"I know."

The two shook their heads as they left the room as Alice went to get Bella. Edward wrapped his arms around Scarlett as they stood beside Emmett and Rosalie. "That dress looks amazing on you."

"Thanks, Rose."

When they saw Joseph behind Alice and Bella, they knew the party begun. Scarlett's gift was a diary. "I thought you might want to write your feelings down if you were ever hurt by Joseph or anyone that causes you pain."

Joseph looked at Scarlett as Edward glared. "Don't even think about it." Edward said. "She thought this could help Bella as if she need someone or something to confide in."

"Thank you." Bella said.

As the gifts were given, there was one last one. An envelope that held plan tickets for Bella and Joseph to visit her mom. Scarlett knew she was excited, but everything changed when she announced that she got a paper cut. Edward grabbed Scarlett and rushed her out of the house. "Edward..."

"I told you if something were to happen that I will keep you safe and that is what I'm doing."

She looked back at the house and knew that something was going to happen that will leave one hurt and the other worried for that one.
