Characters - Sally, Maple and Kasumi
Technically everything I write is anime expired so in a way this one was pretty open ended for me 😅 Luckily, another user gave me an idea involving Bofuri, so I'd count that as inspired.
(I'm well aware October is over now lol. I got really burned out after writing almost every single day, so I needed a break. I'm getting back into it now, so despite it being November, I'll be doing a few more prompts I wanted to do. Please enjoy despite the wait.)

It was October, and that meant it was the Halloween season! So of course the vr game New World Online got a Halloween update. For some, this meant fun! For others, it meant having to deal with scary things. Something people like Sally weren't so great at.
Sally: D-D-Do we really have to do this..?
Sally, along with Maple and Kasumi were currently exploring a pumpkin patch that had been added to the game recently. According to rumors, a boss was added to the game on accident here after it had been canceled last minute. The three of them were currently searching for it.
Maple: Come on Sally, it's not so bad! It's just pumpkins after all! Hehe
Kasumi: I agree. There's no reason to be afraid.
Sally: I object to that..
An owl hooted off in the distance, making Sally jump and her companions giggle.
Sally: L-Let's just keep going..!
They nod in agreement as the three of them continue their search. After searching for about twenty minutes, they find a small clearing in the massive patch of pumpkins.
Maple: Think this is it..?
Kasumi: It's the only place like this, so it's very likely.
Sally: So now what..?
Maple: I dunno. If there really is a boss, it'll show up, right?
Before either of he friends could answer, the ground began to rumble.
Sally: I'd say whatever we're here for is definitely here!
Kasumi: Agreed.. stay on your guard!
Everyone drew their weapons, ready for a fight as an arm tore up through the ground. It pulled the rest of its body up, revealing a mummy. Sally yelped and fell back on her butt as she took a step back too quickly.
Maple: You alright Sally!
Sally: I-I'm okay!
As Sally scrambled to her feet quickly, the mummy held out its hands, which started to glow. At the same time, pumpkins all over the place glowed as well.
Kasumi: It's doing something.. get ready!
The pumpkins floated into the air, then made their way to the mummy. They became one with it, becoming what looked like armor. A glowing jack o'lantern covered it's head. It groaned loudly, once again freaking out Sally.
A name appeared above its head.
"The Laughing Pumpkin"
Maple: Alright, you two ready?
Sally: Y-Yeah..
Kasumi: I'm ready! What a strange name though..
They all agreed the boss's name was a little strange, but to be fair the boss had been canceled and wasn't even supposed to be here. Despite that though, they were sure they could beat it!
