Hi there! My name is Cathy. Now you may be wondering 'what's so important about this chick?' to answer your question, nothing. Well not yet anyway, you'll find out further along in the story. But first let's just start with the basics shall we? Cool ok so, my full name is Cathy Rose Birch, I am 17 years old and I am enrolled in a school called Harmonic High, but this school isn't any ordinary school. What's so special about it Cathy? Well I'll tell you strange person. This school, my school, enrolls shifters. Yep that's right, all those myths you hear about Werewolves and Vampires are true. We are excellent at hiding and not having any suspicious people follow us around, because we rarely show ourselves to the general population. That's so cool Cathy! What do you shift into? Well person I was just getting to that. My shift is... Nothing. *everyone gasps* I know right?! I'm 17 and I still haven't shifted! Weird right? Yeah trust me I'm reminded of that every day from my class mates and even my siblings. But aren't your parents there to stop everyone from bullying you? You see person my parents died when I was 8. There was a war with one of the packs around us. No one knew what was happening until it was too late.

The war broke out while most of our pack was still sleeping. But my parents were awake for the morning duties. While my mother was taking care of me, my father was training young soldiers for a potential war when the village was attacked by the Blood Sea pack. Now being that I was 8 I didn't know what was happening or why. We heard shouting outside our house, my father must have mind linked my mother because in a minute she was in her White Tiger form and bursting outside to help my dad. The war went on for what seemed like hours to me, but I was 8 and it could have been 30 minutes, but I like to think my parents put up a good fight and fought for a long time defending the village. But eventually, it ended. There were no more screams of attack or pain, just silence. Pure silence. Slowly I had built up the courage to stand up and walk outside. To this day I wish I hadn't. All I could see was dead bodies on the once fertile grass of our village, some belonged to the Blood Sea pack, but most belonged to us. Some were still in their animal form and others were human. I had spotted the white and black fur of my mother and the golden brown of my father and ran to them. The closer I got the more emotional I became. Amongst the piles of bodies I saw the faces of my kindie friends, drained of colour, of life. I kept strong and moved closer to my parents. I saw their chests rise and fall, slow and uneasy. I kneeled near their heads and patted their necks, feeling the heat radiating off them grow weaker. Their faces covered in blood, along with most of their bodies. My father nuzzled my palm with his snout and my mother talked to me through our mind link.
Cathy...
"Yes mummy?"
You have to stay strong, my darling.
"Ok, but why? You and daddy are gonna be ok right?" she gave a weak chuckle.
I'm sorry baby, but our time is up.
"W-what do you m-mean?" tears were welling up in my young, innocent eyes. She started to cough violently, then my dad took over.
Honey... No matter what, you need to stay strong. Can you do that for me?
"Y-yes daddy."
We love you sweety. We always will.
"I love you too daddy, and mummy." I was crying a lot know, so much so that the blood on their fur was becoming a lighter red and more watery. Then after a few moments of silence they closed their eyes and stopped breathing. I started crying even more. I didn't care if I attracted attention. I didn't care about anything at that point in time. Not even the fact that my brothers and sister were still asleep. I had lost my parents I didn't see meaning in anything anymore. I didn't see meaning in fighting, or trying anymore. But I had made my father a promise, and no matter what I was going to keep that promise, and I did.
