EyesBlue, green, brown, black, and mostly, surprised eyes.
The moment I opened the door and step my foot on the dance floor, everyone's eyes were on me. To say that I was nervous would be a misunderstanding. I felt myself getting hotter and hotter. I nearly wanted to puke from my embarrassment, the lump on my throat kept stretching me from inside out, but before I had the chance to run away, I saw the teacher approaching me."You must be Luna." She said with a huge smile on her face while standing in front of me " come on, we need to start your training as soon as possible. Maybe the competition isn't that soon but we have a lot of work to do. Everyone, try your best to help her adjust. She is a minor, as you can see, but our judges saw something in her, something we need to bring to the surface. We are a team, we are a family, we rise and fall together. If we want the first place at the championship, we need to help her find her way on the top" she said before she lead me next to the other women, who were no longer looking at me surprised but rather with a generous smile on their face.
"Now, everyone take your place in the bar, we are starting with our regular stretches," I kept my eyes on the others and followed their movements which consisted of placing my left leg over the bar and leaning over it.
Twenty minutes and several painful stretches later, we finished our pre-training and took our position on the floor. We made seven lines of two and began with some plies. That's how my first meet went by, stretching and perfecting our basic positions. The others have already done this but our teacher said that we have enough months until the finals so it would be better If they showed me some things. As a former ballerina, I knew how to perform every move but they helped me lift my legs a little longer and make bigger openings.
"Alright girls, we have fifteen minutes left until the end of the class. I suggest you rest after all this stretching, while luna here will make a performance of her best dance, what do you think?" Hearing my name being told I turn my attention to her, a wave of anxiety rushing through my body at her words.
Yes, I have danced before in stages in front of hundreds of people but now, I felt too shy to act.
"I-I don't know if I am ready. I-I haven't prepared something and-" before I could finish my sentence she stopped me.
"It's fine sweetheart, you don't have to be perfect, I just want to see some of your movements, I need to see your level in order to know how I should lead the lesson. It's okay to lose some steps, please." She looked at me with pleading eyes. I turned my body to see the others looking at me the same way. God help me.
"I-I guess I could try but it's been a long time since I danced in a competition so um.." I took my place in the middle of the dance floor before I remember that I wasn't wearing proper pointes. "I need to wear my other pointes, could you wait please? I have them in my bag, I won't be late." She gave me a quick nod and I rushed my way out of there.
As soon as I wore them, I quickly got up and run towards the door, albeit the wrong door. I opened it quickly, failing to notice the shadow appearing behind it.
"Ouch!" I groaned as I bumped into something. I closed my eyes from the impact and started rubbing my nose which started hurting like a bitch. Once I opened my eyes, ready to laugh at myself for my foolishness, I came face to face with a...chest?
Uh no...
I raised my eyes slowly. A chest, a woman's chest. I followed my line towards a long and tanned neck, a strongly sharp jaw, and finally, a face.
My hand fell on its own, forgetting at once the pain on my nose, as I gazed at the woman in front of me, or should I say above me? I know that my 5.4 self could easily be towered by her at least 5.11 frame. I opened and closed my mouth not knowing what I should say. My eyes had locked with hers. It seemed like she could see right through my soul with these strong silver orbs of hers. Her uncanny piercing gaze caused my insides to clench with fear and an emotion I couldn't seem to grasp.
