Raindrops part III

The realization scared him for a moment. Would she ever be able to feel the same way for him? A while ago, she hated him to pieces, now she was holding on to him recovering from her high. Anything was possible.

He'd make it his new mission. Make Marinette fall in love with him. Perfect.

He subconsciously slipped his fingers under her chin making her freeze for a second and he lifted her face to meet his gaze and he leaned in, "Your scent, Marinette. It's doing things to me."

She lost thought for a moment staring in his eyes. "Things like what? Making you uncomfortable?"

"Not in a bad way." He whispered and she nodded, her cheeks flushing as his breath fanned them.

"So in what way?" She didn't resist when his hand on her waist tugged her closer.

"Well..kinda like this." He took one of her hands in his and placed it on his chest.

She gasped as she felt his heart beat under her fingers. It wasn't matching hers, it outscaled her racing heart. It was beating so fast and hard that it was almost abnormal. She slowly looked back up at him.

"It's never gone at this rate before." He was hoping she got the message. Else he didn't know how to tell it to her. Slowly he leaned down.  He waited for a reaction from her as he continued to lean in.
A word of objection, refusal, diffidence, even a slap maybe. But none came.

It was two things. She either wanted it or she just hadn't caught up on what he was aiming for. He wouldn't know. But it was definitely the first one. Still Marinette wasn't going to make herself that easy. Where was the fun in that?

He rested his forehead on hers as their breaths mixed. It was now or never. He traced his fingers on her lips and leaned in all the way till it was a mere inch left between their lips. Marinette placed her index on his lips.

"Permission, Adrien. Where are your manners?" She whispered.

"You ruined the moment."

"I didn't know there was a moment." She smiled innocently watching as his eyes remained transfixed on her lips. She had that effect on him and the thought of it had her head in the clouds.

"M-May I?" His breath coated her lips as he shakily asked, his voice heavy with emotion.

"Do what?" An innocent pout adorned her lips and Adrien could feel his legs giving away. She was just too precious.

"You know..." He trailed off not knowing how to directly ask her if he could kiss her.
"No, Adrien." She whispered leaning her head back, "No, I don't."

She knew very well what he wanted. And as much as he's figured, she just wants him to say it. It shouldn't be that hard. After all he had hope, if she wasn't pulling back, it must be she's also interested. Even if it was only a little bit.

And that meant he had a chance. And it was great. Because at that moment, nothing could make him happier.

"Marinette, I want to kiss you." Her eyes widened for a moment of shock. She did not expect him to be that direct but then she let the shock dissolve then a smirk found its way to her lips. "Then go for it." She whispered in a sultry tone to heaten the mood.

And he didn't take time to rethink afraid that he might chicken out, he cupped her cheeks and leaned closer to join their lips. Well.. until Marinette placed her finger on his lips again, "...after you tell me the reason why."

And now he backed away from her fully keeping distance between their faces. She internally panicked for a moment, scared that her resistance had destroyed the moment finally.
