"Of all the places we'll meet, it will be here at a rally."
A soft-baritone voice that took her attention.
"Why do we always just meet at unpleasant and unexpected opportunities?"
"B-Byul ...?"
The young woman did not answer. Instead it stood up again and took the handkerchief that was in her pocket jeans. The wound on WheeIn's head stopped bleeding when he placed it.
Byul stared at WheeIn.
"You're like a mushroom that just pops up in unexpected places?" she joked and then put the handkerchief back on WheeIn's head. "It's a good thing you weren't injured on the face. If by chance, you might have had a mark on the face."
"Are you my soulmate, Byul?"
As much as WheeIn pointed out she stared at her. Byul replied with an amused smile.
"Soulmate?" she asked back. "You believe on that too?"
"Do you not?"
"I believe it too." She also sat on the sidewalk where WheeIn was sitting. They were far from the riotous rally. "I'm just wondering why you asked if I'm your soulmate?"
"I-I just assumed," WheeIn was suddenly confused. "I mean ... because, we always meet at unexpected times. I thought it's one of those signs."
"I also wonder how we meet in unexpected places," he said. "But it never entered my mind that we were soulmates because I have a girlfriend."
WheeIn winced. It was as if she had slapped the truth in her face.
"Why, not all soulmates get along and end up together?"
"You always seem to make me smile," Byul mutter that startled WheeIn. "If I hadn't taken you away from the mob earlier, you would probably be in the hospital by now."
"Thank you by the way." WheeIn let out a hesitant smile.
Despite the aching head wound she felt happy. I don't know if it's because of Byul's presence. Or because she was away from the chaotic rally. And she doesn't want to think about what's already happening at Jongno-gu's and her colleagues.
Byul looked around. They are here in a hidden alley. From here, vehicles were heard passing by Changuimun-ro Avenue. WheeIn was even surprised when Byul helped her to her feet.
"There's a mall nearby," he said softly. "Its half past six, it's not bad for us to have dinner."
And only then did WheeIn remember her backpack. "My bag ..."
"I think you lost a grip of it while in the middle of the mob," she said softly. "Even if we go back to the rally scene, you will definitely not see it again. Surely there will be people who will be interested on it or if someone you know got it, maybe they'll just return it to you.
WheeIn seems to see his father's anger just in case. It is impossible not to hear on TV the riot that took place at the rally. Especially since the two big TV stations had live coverage earlier.
"The police will definitely arrest the rioters." Byul shook her head. "Those two colleague of yours started the trouble earlier. They rushed to our group."
"My colleagues won't do that, Byul ..."
"Two of your colleagues who went to our stage are both drank," she explained as they walked. "The police will investigate that,"
"You're pro-administration and the administration holds the police." She exaggerated. "Please don't forget that many of my companions will definitely be stressed."
