Perhaps it was the fact it was so so wrong but felt so right as to why yours and Helena's relationship was the way it were.
She was 26 years your senior. Old enough to be your mum. Yet you felt connected on another level. Spiritually.Helena had been extremely busy over the breezy month after Christmas had ended. Both Billy and Nell were due to fly out to America for New Years and Helena had booked a week away for the both of you in London. Or so you thought.
You headed into the lounge where Helena was snuggled in a throw, her curls bundled on the top of her head messily as moon shaped glasses rested gently on the top of her nose. Her lips were plump and her eyes were wide as she read. "What you reading?" you smiled, as you cuddled up next to her, handing her a delicate china teacup full of Earl Grey. "My favourite" she grinned, giggling as she took a sip whilst the steam foggied up her glasses. "So bloody cute" you laughed, grabbing a tissue and Helena's glasses and wiping them.
She rolled her eyes playfully and snatched them back gently. "I've got a tinsy surprise love" she grinned, as you looked at her suspiciously. "Hel?.." you said, edging closer. "Since Billy and Nell are out of the country.. and we're always in bloody London.." she hinted. Her eyes shone like glass. She sat upright like a precious, botanical flower which stood amongst a garden of overgrown weeds. Her face was like fine china - all cheekbones and the warmest large brown eyes that almost looked inviting. Her hands were nimble, long and thin as her fingers tapped and circled the rim of the teacup that nestled in her palms. You could just imagine them on you."I've booked for us to go to the Maldives. We fly out tomorrow morning" she laughed as her warm brown eyes were fixated upon you. She didn't want to miss your response or clearly any moment.
"Helena really?" you gasped, as her lips pursed into a smile. You felt yourself getting slightly emotional, as your eyes welled up. You'd always grown up having nothing. Nothing except love but of course, love wasn't the only thing needed to raise a child on. Vacations were unheard of in fact a Friday Chinese takeaway or a treat from the local corner shop felt as any bit as special as a holiday. To you anyway. Now here you were, being handed an all-inclusive, first-class dream trip with the love of your life.
It was nice to be treated this way. To be looked after. To feel safe and secure. Helena was like a comfort blanket to you. Soft and snuggly and something that instantly made you feel at ease.
"Of course my love" she whispered, moving in closer and placing her own lips amongst yours lightly. "So I take it you'll go with me" she smirked, as you felt your cheeks flush with fire. "I don't think I will" you joked, grabbing her neck and kissed her roughlyFirst class really was something else. It would be better when you arrived. Where you could be alone without eyes watching. Without worrying about right or wrong or what would simply happen if you were discovered. You and Helena were sat in a spacious cabin. Inside, there was one leather two seater with another that stretched into a single bed. Directly opposing the bed which was coated in fresh white linen, there was a flatscreen TV which showed arrival times and also had a variety of downloaded films to watch.
You quickly grabbed the remote control before she could as she restled you on the bed and aimed to take control. "For the last.. bloody time" she gasped, giggling. "We will not be watching one of my movies" she laughed, eventually regaining control of the situation. You rolled your eyes and admitted defeat. "Now sit like a good little girl and watch the movie" she purred. You smiled weakly as she smirked. She knew exactly what she was doing.
Labyrinth was one of the many films you watched throughout the duration of the flight. Helena explained that this was one of the very first roles she had auditioned for but she didn't get the part. "It all happens for a reason love" she smiled, burying her face in your freshly washed hair. "Although" she said, sitting upright. "It would've been a dream to work with the likes of David Bowie" she admitted. "You've still done amazing" you smiled. "Don't flatter me" she giggled, twisting the cap off a bottle of full fat coke.
The bar on the plane was something else. Helena being Helena opted for a minimum of three drinks each time. These always consisted of a full fat coke and a freshly brewed Earl Grey tea. You chose a Fanta Orange and a tea like Helena. Lunch was completely crazy. It was like being in a high end restaurant. It was crazy how people with money lived. Paying thousands for a flight. Helena chose a messy cheeseburger with fries and a creamy garlic sauce. You opted for margarita calzone with garlic bread and dirty fries.
You soon arrived in the Maldives at approximately three o'clock in the afternoon. It was dreamy. White sand beaches and clear blue oceans. The heat instantly hit the pair of you as you left the plane. "Ready?" she smiled, as you'd collected the luggage from the airport.
You'd never known anything like it. Helena I mean. She had two large cases full of all her things - hairdryer, curling pins, skincare, her dressing gown, multiple sun hats, her whole bloody vanity and at least three different outfits for each night. You could've sworn she'd of packed Louise, her makeup artist, inside if given the opportunity. Compared to your small suitcase and tiny travel bag, it was a lot.
"Took the whole of bloody London with you" you laughed, as you got into a private taxi Helena had pre-booked. "Give over" she giggled, fastening her seatbelt and looking directly at you. "That's not even half of what I was going to bring.. it bloody weighed loads so I had to take loads out" she giggled, slapping your thigh. "Helena. That in itself speaks volumes" you laughed, watching out of the window as you arrived at the resort.
It was honestly unreal. You were in disbelief that you were not only in complete paradise but that you were sharing this with no one other than Helena Bonham Carter. The apartment was decorated in bright colour - a mixture of white and light grey. Helena obviously had to book for two rooms so it didn't seem suspicious that you were sharing a bed with your "boyfriend's" mum. If the Daily Mail got hold of that, there truly would be hell to pay.
The rest of the day consisted of you just taking in your surroundings and admiring the beauty of the Maldives. It was simply stunning. The subtle breeze hit your cheeks as you stepped out onto the balcony which overlooked clear water which sparkled in the white sunlight. Helena joined you soon after. "Marvellous isn't it darling" she smiled. Her hair was bundled in her signature messy style accompanied with blue butterfly clips and red heart shaped glasses. "Oh its wonderful thank you so much" you smiled, kissing her gently as you felt the glasses brush against the rim of your nose.
The evening shortly followed which ended with the two of you sat on the balcony, hearing the waves gently crash against the rocks. The stars watched you, as though everything was aligned and that this was meant to be whilst you sat with Helena opposing you, sipping on red wine. It was somewhat peaceful to just sit. Sit and take in your surroundings. Sit and just talk about life with the only person who truly mattered.
"Y/N darling?" she whispered, twiddling her thumbs. "We need to talk". You sat up and straightened your back. What the hell did she mean 'need to talk?" As far as you were concerned, you were in a good place. In a bubble of the upmost happiness but all good things come to an end someday don't they?

Hi angels,
I'm so sorry for the delayed update. In case you were wondering about the inspiration for this chapter, I'm currently sat on a four hour flight bored out of my mind. I've literally been listening to nothing but Lana Del Rey for the past week and reading the most beautiful poetry. I hope your all well :)
Let me know what you thought x P.S the photo is a pic from my trip 😊
