All Because of You (Jace Herondale)

Chapter 7

Jace looks at you, and you can see emotion in his eyes. Pleading. Guilt. He wants you to say you love him. He wants to know he's not alone in this, chasing some girl that will never love him back. He just needs to hear those 3 words that will make everything okay. And for a second, you are tempted to give him those words. But, you can't do that to Clary, to everyone in the Institute who has accepted her like they accepted you. You know what it's like to be an outsider, and after all the hard work Clary put foward to try and establish herself as a Shadowhunter. You can't take that away. You turn around, your back facing Jace,"No. I don't love you like that." Jace nods,"I understand. Sorry to bother you. If you need anything else, you know where to find me." You hear the door close behind him, and you collapse onto your bed with a soft sigh.

Waking up, you realize you must have fallen asleep after Jace left. You get up and decide to take a shower. Maybe you can try and wash away the guilt with the rest of the grime of the past few days. After showering, you decide to take it easy today. You slip into your pajamas and climb back into bed. A few days ago, Maryse bought you a TV, and you turn it on now. SpongeBob is the first interesting thing you see on right now, so you flip to Nickelodeon. The animated sea creatures help you keep your mind away from Jace, until you hear a soft knock on your door. You sigh, and throw off the blankets in a huff. You assume it's Jace, so you throw open the door,"WHAT?!" You wince as you notice that you were mistaken. It's Clary, and she's crying.
