You and Kyoko had almost settled down for breakfast. Shinso had been out the whole night on patrol, but he promised he'd be there to at least eat some omurice with the family. It was common for him to be out for most of the night and sleep during the day. You wished you could be out there with him, but you were now seven months pregnant. You couldn't exactly fight crime the way you were. It would have been too dangerous for you and the baby. Your quirk also exhibited strange tendencies when you were expecting, making it a bit more dangerous in the field to handle. Aside from that, you enjoyed spending more time with Kyoko, your daughter. She'd just turned twelve. You could see her father reflected in her violet eyes, and yourself in her long brown hair, but it hadn't been long after she turned ten that she started sprouting purple highlights. It was almost like she was becoming more like her father on purpose.

You pressed your hand onto your stomach when you felt the baby kick. It was going to be another girl. You hadn't yet decided a name, probably because Shinso had been surprised he was going to have another daughter. As he put it, he was going to be outnumbered and too overprotective for his own good. The baby was always lively at night, so it surprised you she was rolling around so early in the morning.

"Kyoko, could you please set the table? Your father should be in soon," you said.

Kyoko nodded. She hadn't spoken much since the manifestation of her quirk. She could control people's thoughts. She could even have them say or write whatever she wanted. This also came with your ability to communicate telepathically and read minds. Unlike her father, she wasn't able to make people move at her will, but when you could make them think whatever you wanted, it wasn't necessary. She didn't need you to answer a question. She could just do it, get in someone's mind without warning. Thankfully, she was a sweet child. She kept quiet to ensure that she didn't accidently affect anyone with her quirk; she was always concentrating to keep it under control.

You heard footsteps from outside, ever alert from your hero training. You smiled to yourself. He was right on time. You made your way to the front door, but froze when you heard more than one set of footsteps approaching. Hitoshi wouldn't bring uninvited guests. Occasionally, he'd invite over Denki or Aizawa, but he'd never do so without letting you know first. You reached out to the minds telepathically.

This should be Mindjack's house. If the informant was correct, he'll still be out on patrol. We can get the job done and get out before he's even home.

This better be worth it, another mind thought.

We get this job done without a hitch, and the boss will promote us.

You walked back into the kitchen, taking a look at Kyoko. She was still so young. She barely had a grasp on her quirk. She wasn't ready to fight villains, nor should she have to. As her mother, you needed to keep her safe. Your quirk was temperamental when you were pregnant, sometimes it could be as alive as a roaring fire and other times it would be drained of energy from supporting another life.

"Kyoko, call your father. Tell him to come home now." You took in a steadying breath. "Don't panic. There are villains who are trying to break into the house."
