"God, I love it!" Neil barely managed to get his words out through his excitement.
"What, the scene?" Todd asked him with a small smile. They were sitting together on the dock of the lake after they had just finished practicing lines together. He was acutely aware of how close they were to each other. It wasn't an uncomfortable distance, there was a small part of him that wished he was closer to Neil. He knew these thoughts of his were sort of frowned upon, and it most likely wasn't a mutual feeling, but he couldn't help how he felt for Neil. The way he seemed so excited about acting, and how beautiful he looked while doing it. He seemed like he was in his little world. Todd suddenly grew very shy and he quickly looked away from his friend. He wasn't even paying attention to his cute rambling. God, He looked so amazing when he was talking about something he was passionate about.
"...That's why I still can't believe I got the lead role. I just- thank you so much.."Neil finished talking and he was now smiling widely at Todd.
Todd looked back at him, a little confused. What had he missed? "Thank you? For what, I didn't give you the role," He laughed a little awkwardly.
"Thank you for helping me practice today. I would probably embarrass myself at the performance if I didn't have you around to practice with." Neil laughed, and Todd joined in after a few seconds.
Todd liked his laugh a lot. He liked the way his lips formed that cute smile that made his heart melt and his knees buckle. He would do anything to be able to press his own lips against them. Without thinking, he moved his hand and rested it on Neil's. His heart began to race as he waited for Neil to pull his hand back but he never did. Instead, he inched closer and rested his head on Todd's shoulder.
"Hey, Neil?"
"Yes, Todd?"
"Nothing." Todd just looked across the lake with a smile.
He'd tell Neil how he feels later, Todd decided. Maybe after the play, when Neil is buzzing with excitement and the moment will feel right. He'd kiss him right after the play to show his support for him. He looked back at Neil for a split second and then returned his gaze across the lake.
