A/N
This chapter was originally supposed to be another one of Lily's birthday; however, after working on it for two weeks and receiving nothing but writer's block from it, I decided to delete the entire thing and go a new direction with this chapter. I still have some content that I found might fit better for later chapters, but that won't be for at least a while. I'm, however, pleased to say that the next chapter will feature a Rabastan and Cassie reunion. Castan? Rassie? Cassian? Cabastan? I suck with the shipping names, so I will happily take suggestions if you have some.
Have a great day, everyone :)

Dear Rabastan,
How are you? It's been a few days since we last met, but still, I look forward to the next time, whenever that is—speaking of which, there is an upcoming Hogsmeade trip on the 12th if you're able to meet.Lily's birthday was a success, so to speak, though I'm pretty sure that something happened between Lily and James. Neither of them won't tell me what, but I don't think it's anything good. Lily's avoiding James again, just like in November. It's been three days, and it's getting ridiculous.
How are things going with our mothers? Is it not all that long until you're taking them to Paris, isn't it? I'm almost envious of you, not for being with them, heaven forbid, but for being able to see Paris. The streets, the people and culture, and the food, of course.
Anyway, James has us working even harder had quidditch practice, which is understandable, even if our next match isn't until the beginning of March. Though when I think about it, it really isn't all that long. However, it will be exciting to see whether Ravenclaw or Slytherin will win the upcoming match in two weeks.
I hope you're doing well, and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Sincerely,
Cassie

Dear Cassie,
I'm so sorry for the late reply. Things have been quite hectic here since the last time I saw you.
After several conversations and promises, I managed to get out of the cake tasting our mothers had planned for that day. Although, they made me promise them that I'd join them to look for flower arrangements instead. Truthfully I would have thought they would have preferred doing this without me, but apparently not. The two of them have been going mad over the table decorations; it's insane.
Though I have to admit, I do find some pleasure in watching the two arguing about where to place the Greengrass's and Mulciber's. If they continue at this rate, I have to say I'm starting to wonder if there's even going to be a wedding.
But anyway, yes, I will be able to join you on your Hogsmeade trip; after being stuck at home ever since you went back to school, it will be refreshing to wander about again.
The trip to Paris is sometime in March, I think. My mother has mentioned it several times, but truthfully, I've tried very much to close my ears whenever she gets on the subject. I have to admit my expertise in french dresses is not all that up to date, if it ever was. Though I doubt I'll get the chance to see any of Paris. Knowing our mothers, we'll spend some time in the dress shop and then leave straight away—anything to get as little muggle socialization as possible.
You mentioned Lily was ignoring James; I'm certain that everything will work out for those two. It's clear to see that they care for another. Though since it's been a while since you sent your letter, I suspect or rather wouldn't be surprised if something might have happened in the meantime.
I want to apologize for not using the mirror much; lately, Rodolphus and Bellatrix have been spending quite a lot of time here and have been rather insistent that I join them or else they would join me. I can not even begin to say how much I miss the peaceful days spent in the cottage, with no worries other than
I miss you, and I look forward to seeing you on the 12th.
Sincerely,
Rabastan

February 10th
Dear Rabastan
Nothing would surprise me less if our parents were the reason for your late reply. Although I was starting to worry, I can not deny that I somehow expected it. I'm pleased that you managed to clear off that day. And I suppose that whatever cake they choose would never be one that you and I would have chosen for ourselves. No matter how good it might taste.
I can only imagine how it must be around those two for quite some time. Just one week with my mother is enough to give me a headache. I don't even want to imagine how it must be when there are two of them.
I don't blame you for the mirror; with all the late quidditch practices this past week, I've hardly had any time to look at it myself.
As for Lily and James, I hope your optimism is contagious because I could truly use it at this point. It's been two weeks now, and Lily still runs at the sight of him. Still, I have tried digging for answers, discretely, I might add, but no matter what, I can't seem to get very far. James has no idea why she avoids him while Lily refuses to talk, let alone mention James. Truthfully I'm just as confused as I'm curious about all of this.
If you're spending your time with Rodolphus and Bellatrix, I can only imagine how much you long for your cabin. in which I have to say so do i. the view when the sun rose above the mountains, and beautiful colors painted across the skies, I don't think I've seen anything quite like that before. Anyway, it's almost time for practice, and James will strangle me if I'm late.
I look forward to seeing you again by the Three Broomsticks.
And, I miss you too.
Sincerely,
Cassie
