Clara's POV
"So have you decided on who you'll be going to prom with?" Dorris asked me while we were packing up after our lesson ended.
I brood at Dorris and said, "Are you kidding?" Then I continued to say, "There won't be anyone going to prom with me, I'm most probably going to end up alone which I'm already used to, so it doesn't really bother me anyway."
Dorris replied, "Well I thought you and Rico had a chance. Besides, he really seems to be into you."
I rolled my eyes at Dorris for the insanity she spewed out, "Please... It's true that there's no other guy other than Rico that is not treating me like an invisible being. Sadly, Rico is out my league, so that will never happen."
Dorris defended, "That's not true, what about Daniel and William from our school's band?"
I replied instantly, "That's because they are my juniors, just like my relationship with Fiona, and they happened to be really nice people, so that's two different things that you're talking about. Besides, Veronica already eyed on Rico for her prom date, I won't stand a chance. Alright, stop talking about me, what about you?"
Dorris looked troubled as she passed a folded paper to me and breathed in hard before she continued to say, "Ok... Ivan from our school's band likes me and wants me to be his prom date, but... his love letter just creeps me out!"
"Aww... What do you mean? A love letter sounds sweet. Hey, at least you've got a date here!" I shrieked at the good news as I genuinely felt happy for her.
"Wait till you read this..." Dorris rolled her eyes and pointed to the folded paper in my hands.
I broke into a guffaw upon reading it, "What?! Is this guy for real?! What's with these watermarks anyway, did he cried while writing this letter for you?" Dorris was right about the creeps, his letter to her was not only full of gross grammatical errors, but also mushy content. I passed the letter back to Dorris and teased her, "Aww... This is so touching, imagine him writing this letter with so much of sincerity and affection just like the song True by Ryan Cabrera."
I started singing outthe lyrics to Dorris to tease her further as we made our way out of theclassroom. Dorris ended up joining me in the singing that was mixed with ourchuckles.
We were enjoying our singing until I bumped into Rico who stood outside the door of our classroom. I yelped at the sight of him once again as I couldn't help being nervous around him even after knowing him for quite some time. After all, I've got a major crush on him, and the teenage raging hormones in me weren't helping me at all.
"Hi, Clara!" Rico greeted me with his charming smile. "Oh hi, Rico, what brought you here?" I asked while trying to contain my happiness from seeing him.
He shifted his eyes across to Dorris and looked back at me, "Erm... I was just wondering if I could have a moment with you?"
Before I could even respond, Dorris got the hint from Rico and excused herself from us to give us our private moment. "I'm in need of the washroom now, catch up with you later." Dorris even gave me a kinky wink before she left.
"So what is it about?" I asked Rico curiously. Rico scratched the back of his head with one of his hands and bit his lips nervously before telling me, "Erm...May...I....have the honour to be your prom date?"
I dropped the books held in my hands on the floor as I was jolted in surprise by what I heard. I couldn't believe my ears and I thought I must have been dreaming but I could feel the pain from the books that landed on my feet.
"I...I...I'm sorry, what did you just said?" I pushed up my glasses and checked with Rico again as I thought I might have heard him wrong. He picked up my books and took in a deep breath before repeating his line, "I said...May I have the honour to be your prom date?"
My mind went blank for a moment as I got overwhelmed with joy within me. "Erm...It's okay, if you don't want to, I understand..." Rico said this to break the awkward silence when there wasn't a response from me.
"No no no, of course, I would love to!" I shrieked in excitement. The brood between his furrowed brows a moment ago immediately broke into a radiant wide smile when he heard my reply.
Rico's POV
I've decided to muster my courage and ask Clara out as my prom date for the upcoming prom. "It's now or never..." I said to myself as I made my way to the area outside her classroom.
I heard her singing True by Ryan Cabrera with Doris when I stood outside her classroom, this tugged my heartstrings as it was the song that I had been listening to whenever I think about Clara. I mouthed the lyrics when she sang that part on "Do you want me too?", I wish I knew how she felt about me.
As her footsteps drew near, I took a deep breath and got myself ready, but I was caught up in a nerve wreck when I realised Dorris was around too. Luckily Dorris made a move first, giving me the chance to ask Clara out as my prom date. When I finally said it out to Clara, I felt lost for a moment when I didn't get a response from her. I started to worry if she didn't want to be my prom date, I wouldn't want to force her into it if she doesn't want too. When she shrieked in excitement that she would love to be my prom date, I felt like the luckiest man on earth. She gave me a smile which seems so genuinely sweet with just the right touch of shyness that sent an unexpected warmth through me.
