Clara's POV
After a long day of work, we were finally back at the mansion at about 9pm. I went up to my room and crashed onto the bed.
Gosh... Luciano sure has got a really busy life as a billionaire. I already felt like I was living his hectic life just by being his personal assistant. Then it suddenly struck me that I had been so caught up with work that I forgot to find the opportunity to contact Rico. Damn it...
Suddenly, I heard a tap on my window. I walked up to the window, thinking maybe it could be the wind blowing up against the window that was making that sound. Just as I was about to walk away from the window, another tap came on the window. I immediately turned back and saw Rico clinging outside of my window!
A jolt of excitement and energy ran through me upon seeing my light of hope. I quickly opened the windows to let Rico come in. Thank god that the windows weren't locked anymore.
He pulled me tightly into his embrace and I hugged him tightly when we saw each other.
"Thank god, you're okay. I've been so worried about you, I swear I'll never let go of you anymore," He said it with an intense emotion as he looked at me with his glistening eyes.
It was a huge relief to see him at this point in time. There was this comforting sense of security when I was in his embrace like I was finally safe and there was nothing that I need to worry about as long as I'm with him.
"How did you know I was here?" I asked.
"I was worried when I couldn't contact you at all since yesterday. I contacted Dorris and she told me everything she knew. You being sold to Carlos was just too abrupt, something felt fishy about it. So I looked up and realised the boss of Carlos was also called Luciano. I showed Dorris an image of him and she confirmed that he was the one she saw when she got kidnapped earlier on. I was so afraid that something bad would happen to you, so I came for you immediately," Rico explained.
I was moved to tears when I learnt about how important I was to him, that he had come to rescue me despite the dangers.
"Thank you so much, Rico, I'm so glad you came. I was trapped by Luciano and couldn't find a way to contact you at all," I explained.
"Let's get out of here now," Rico said as he held onto my hand tightly.
"Alright," I grabbed his hand tightly too and followed behind him. For once, I felt so strongly that I never ever want to let go of his hand anymore. This man risked his life for me, I would risk mine for his too.
We tip-toed out of the room as quietly as we can and dodged away from the paths that have a surveillance camera and security personnel. Our hearts were racing as we panted heavily. Then it started to rain heavily, obscuring our vision as we squinted our eyes and tried to escape out of this heavily guarded "fortress". We were thoroughly drenched, I felt the bitterness from a mix of cold and fear, but my mental determination to get out of this place with Rico remains undefeated.
"Alright, let's go," Rico whispered to me when the security was gone from our sight.
He turned his head but then he got hit against something hard. I looked up in fear at what I saw, my heart dropped and my knees buckled. Luciano stood in the rain and held a pistol against Rico's head.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Luciano gave us a thunderous look.
"I would rather be killed than to lose her," Rico firmed his stance against Luciano.
"As you wished," Luciano said coldly to Rico and was ready to pull the trigger.
"Noooo!!!" I cried out aloud as I stood in front of Rico to protect him from this mad man.
