It was still cold, even when Jeja was surrounded by a mass of people and her annoying coworker she still felt cold. But not the type where you're fingers are so numb it feels like they're about to fall off or when your legs can't stop shivering. No, this cold wasn't nipping at her skin, rather it was the absence of warmth. Like she was alone.
Alone.
Yesterday was the first time she didn't feel alone, she felt at peace with her life and warm.
It was never warm at home. Maybe because her aunt was behind rent but it hasn't felt warm in almost nine years.
Yesterday was an experience she hasn't never witnessed before but scary. Jeja's rule was to keep her head down and focus on her work, she had a couple of months left until she could vanish from this place completely so she should refrain from getting too close to people. Yesterday she overstepped that boundary.
But God how could she not.
The way his unbothered eyes stared at her with so much lust. His attention was on her and only her and she also couldn't help not reciprocating the same gaze.
