Alissa Moore's Point of View:

"Today's the day," my sister sang as she walked into the room. She was still wearing her comfy pajamas.

"I know," I told her. She walked in just as I had turned off my alarm.

"So are you excited?" she sat beside me.

I got out of bed and took my hairbrush off of the dresser. She walked over to me taking the brush from my hand. I let her brush my hair as I slowly started to wake up fully.

"I am excited but I wish I knew where he was taking me," I sighed.

"Well did you ask him?"

I turned my head to look at her, "of course, I asked but he wouldn't answer...said it was a surprise"

"Okay," she laughed "prepare to be surprised then"

I groaned. The rest of the day went on with Bri and me working remotely. I may be at odds with my father at the moment but I still had work to do and I had people depending on me. I was the head of the human resource department for my dad's company. My team and I attended to the staff's needs and ensure that they are satisfied while maintaining company policy and the law.

I looked at my phone when I saw that I got a text from Rafael. It was to tell me that he was on his way to pick me up. I looked at the time and saw that it was now four in the afternoon.

"Oh crap"

Bri looked up from her computer, "what's wrong?"

"Rafael is on his way to pick me up," I hastily shut down my laptop and grabbed my documents stuffing them in a folder.

"Go get ready," she slapped my hands away "I'll take care of these"

"You sure?"

"Absolutely sis," she smiled broadly "now go"

"Thank you," I smiled gratefully as I rushed around quickly getting ready.

I ran to my room waving at John as I passed. I had already taken a shower so I just had to get dressed and fix my hair. It was a bit cold outside since it was December fifteen but it hasn't started snowing yet. I decided to go with a classic black and white look. He told me to dress casually so I pulled out black jeans, my black leather jacket, a white tank top, and white vans to complete the look.

My hair was currently in a low ponytail but I wanted to change it. I decided to just do a high bun allowing tendrils of my hair to fall and frame my face. Grabbing a purse I made sure I had my ID, a credit card, and some cash just in case. When I was ready I looked at my phone and saw that there was a text from one minute ago announcing that Rafael had arrived.

I went to where I left Bri to find both Jacob and John in the room. Bri grinned at me giving me a thumbs-up as she inspected my outfit.

"Alissa," John called out to me "I spoke with your brother and he will allow you to go on this date alone only if you make sure to call every hour"

I rolled my eyes at the thought of my brother allowing me to go anywhere. I know he was only trying to protect me but he was being a bit extreme.

"I'm going on a date John," I told him "I can't exactly pull out my phone every hour to call you"

He rolled his shoulders, "I figured you would say that and so it'd be best if I just went with you"

"What no-"

I looked at my phone to see another text from Rafael. I didn't want to leave him wanting any longer so I just huffed and allowed John to chaperone me like a child. As soon as I walked out of the elevator I spotted Rafael. He was dressed similarly to me but he had a black t-shirt on instead of a white one.

He laughed as I approached him, "I see great minds think alike" he gestured to our outfits.

I chuckled, "that they do"

"Who's this?" he asked when his eyes caught sight of John.

"This is my bodyguard...I'm sorry I apparently can't leave without him"

He looked oddly relieved by my statement, "it's no problem at all"

He pointed to a man dressed as casually as we all were, "I apparently can't leave without a bodyguard either"

I laughed shyly honestly glad that he wasn't turned off by John being here and that he had a bodyguard of his own. He hooked my arm with his and faced the exit.

"Shall we?"

I smiled brightly and I swear he gasped, "we shall"

"Where are you taking me?" I asked him as he led me outside. He turned and started walking. I looked behind me and saw that John and Rafael's bodyguard were keeping a good enough distance between us.

"It's something that I think you will enjoy doing," he stated simply not giving anything away.

I snorted rather unladylike, "that could be anything"

"Have patience ma fleur," he glanced at me "all good things to those who wait"

I rolled my eyes, "tell me about yourself"

"What do you want to know?"

"Anything"

"Well as you know now my name is Rafael Chancellor and I am next in line to be the king of France"

I stopped in my tracks, "stop right there"

He stopped walking and turned to look at me with the expression of a bewildered child, "did I say something wrong?"

"Not wrong per se but," I paused trying to find the perfect words to give him "I want to know about you and who you are as a person. What are your goals? What would you like to change about the world? Are you happy with what you've done so far with your life? I want to know the real you, not the persona you put on for the world but the person you truly are. I could care less about your title, well actually I don't care at all"

By the end of my rant, he was stunned. The fact that he opened his mouth to speak multiple times with no sound coming out had me believing that he was at a loss for words.

"I don't know what to say," he answered honestly "you're the first person to ask me those questions"

"Don't you talk to your parents about those kinds of things or a sibling?"

He shook his head, "I love my parents but they were busy most of the time and already had expectations where I was concerned and I'm an only child"

I was astonished and didn't know what to say, "well you can talk to me about anything"

The smile he gave me let me know I said the right thing.
