YOU.

NINE MONTHS AGO, you'd have never thought you'd be emotionally attached to a person the way you are with Bucky, let along giving birth to his child in a hospital room. The contractions you were having were almost unbearable but then again, your doctor did warn you that they were going to be insufferable since you were giving birth to a 'Super Baby'.

"Miss Stark, you need to breathe." The nurse tells you as your jaw is clenched with the pain your son is giving you.

"Don't tell me to breathe." You grumble furiously, sweat beading on your forehead. "Where's the fucking epidural?"

"We can't give you one until this contraction is over." She says soothingly, regardless of how you've just spoken to her. "After this one I can assure you, the procedure will be done."

"Thank you." Bucky says, sitting on the chair next to your bed. He seems even more stressed out than you are, if that's possible. His eyes are lined red and he's got bags underneath them. His knuckles are white with the way that he's squeezing his fists together and his leg keeps jittering as he chews on his bottom lip in anticipation.

The pain is damn near excruciating and felt ten times worse than the Braxton Hicks that you experienced a few months prior. You often feel yourself slipping in and out of consciousness during the contractions and you cannot wait to get this child out of you and have your tubes tied together.

That's dramatic, but it's how you feel in this moment.

After a few more minutes, your muscles relax and you feel your heart rate going back to normal as you start to breathe more steadily.

"I think it's over." You pant and point to your back as you sit up. "Stick it in me."

"Alright." The nurse chuckles, sterilising the needle before she injects you with the epidural. "You may feel a little drowsy and numb in the legs but it takes off 80 percent of the pain. All you need to do is push when we ask you to."

"Yeah, okay." You nod. "How long does it take to take effect?"

"20 to 30 minutes." She answers and you lay back down onto the bed.

"How far is she?" Bucky stands up.

"6 centimeters." The nurse responds. "It'll be four more hours until she's ready to push."

The whole process of your labour and delivery would be sped up, all due to the fact that your baby wasn't exactly normal. It was predicted that you were only going to spend 10 hours during labour and for your delivery, he should come out fairly quickly.

Once four hours passed and the epidural took full effect, when the nurses told you to start pushing you felt little to no pain whatsoever. Bucky's metal hand gripped yours with every push you made, motivating you to push with all the strength you had.

"Here he is." The nurse says, cradling your baby in her arms after about ten minutes of pushing. Then, the memory of everything you had to go through in order to have this baby completely vanished as you looked at your son in the nurses hands.

You were a little bit weirded out by his appearance at first, since you didn't expect new born's to look like little pink aliens but he was cute nonetheless.

He was yours.

And Bucky's of course.

Speaking of Bucky, the nurse handed him to Bucky after she got Jamie cleaned up and the big baby looked tiny in Bucky's huge hands. Jamie wasn't big because he was a 'chubby' baby but because he was much taller than much new borns. You weren't sure if he got his height from the Super Solider serum or just because Bucky is abnormally tall himself. Either way, you prepared yourself for your son to be taller than you by the time he got to puberty.
