"I do not think I saw your face in church?"

"That should be because she did not go"

"I see," he said

"But I do hope I will see you next time?"

This time he looked straight into my eyes

"She will. Eventually" Davina replied

She also looked at me as she said the last word

Thankfully, the door opened as Angel, Aaron, Sarah, and some other people came in

"I knew it," Aaron said

"Nothing else smells as wonderful as D's Casserole dish" Sarah complimented

The grateful feeling I felt vanished when I realized that more people meant more mouths and that was the moment the oven alerted D

Everyone's heads snapped to the oven; Davina chuckled

"I guess you all do not have to wait long," she said

'Will we even finish all this?' I thought when Davina brought the trays out

I trailed the two huge Casserole dishes as Davina carried them to the set table

"She looks surprised" I heard Angel say

"This is how Davina cooks since there are always many people eating. Just wait and see, before you eat three spoons, this place would have been filled with starving people" Sarah explained

She was correct

Literally, before my third spoon entered my mouth, swarms of people flooded in. More than I imagined, the company was nice, but they had to bring out the topic of church

"That was a beautiful service we had today, Pastor" Angel started

"It even has a lovely title, Masterpiece" Aaron added

"Glory and thanks be to the Lord" Hebrew replied

I was getting uncomfortable

"Thank you for the food, Davina. I will be going up now," I said

"Running away, huh?" Angel teased

"Excuse me?" I asked

"Or is it because you do not want to do the dishes? That is going to be rude, you know?"

I have had it

"Do you have a problem with me? If you do, just say it and stop being so silly" I asked

"Just ignore her, dear. That is how she usually is" Davina said

"I was just joking. Why did you become so serious?"

She leaned forward

"Are you always like this?" she asked

"I am sure my temperament has absolutely nothing to do with you," I responded

"Well, you are going to be in this town for a long time, so I think it actually does," she said

I chuckled

"And why would I be here for a long time?"

"Did you not hear what Aaron?"

"And if for so abnormal reason, I stay, I have no intention of crossing your path, so mind yourself, okay"

She started to talk

"Also," I interjected, "I survived a tornado once and I can do it again in a heartbeat"

She laughed

"I never knew we had a wonder-woman in our midst. Do you really think it was your self-will that made you step out of your car without a scratch? What a load of crap"

"What?"

"You seem to be ignorant so let me educate you; no one in this world can survive what you just do. So, instead of bloating, get on your knees and thank God for sparing your life. Even if you think you can survive another tornado in a heartbeat, you need Him to at least keep your heart running"

I smiled

"Is that so? Thank you so much for your wisdom, class captain of the heavenly host. I have been blessed so much; I am going to throw up"

"I thought you were going up. Or do you want to join us? We can have the service all over again for you if you want" she dared

"I am asking because I am confused; are you trying to make me get closer or farther away from God? If it is the former, then you are doing a shitty job. Let me advise you, this world is way too high up in its head to succumb to your threats"

I stepped back and looked at everyone, "Have a good evening"

I gave a slight bow and climbed up the stairs

I lay on my bed, and just stayed like that until I heard a knock

"Come in," I said

I was not in the mood to see anyone, still, I sat up when Davina came in

She came and sat on my bed

"Angel can be a handful, right?" she asked

"I think it is more than just being a handful" I replied

She chuckled

"You are right. But she means well"

"Is that how she always behaves?" I asked after a while

"And how exactly does she behave?" Davina asked back

"Indescribable"

I tried to search for a word, but I could not find one

"You know, one of the reasons people get angry about what someone says is because it is true. Deep down they are aware of that fact, but they just cannot come to terms with it. They do not want to" she said

"What are you trying to say?"

"I am sure you know what I am trying to say very well. You just do not know what, and how to do what you are supposed to do"

"All I am supposed to do, Davina, is to get on with my next book and find a way to leave this place. Do not get me wrong, I like you and this house, and I might have not stepped out of this place, but this is just not my kind of place" I said

"Why do you not like this place? What exactly is wrong?" she asked

I did not answer

"Because it is away from the place you are used to? Or because God is at the center, end, and beginning of this lovely town?" she asked

I could not reply

She squeezed my hand gently before getting up

"What Angel was actually trying to say is that God is with you, and He loves you. Or else, there is no way you would have been sucked into a tornado that carried houses, flew over forty miles, and then land in this place without a single scratch. I do not know what happened but go to Him, Raelyn, He is waiting for you. Do not live this life without your soul in peace. And your soul can only be in peace with Him" she said and left
