After a grueling hike, we finally reach the Ark. Or, at least, what's left. We walk through the gates, staying clear away from Finn. I shrink into myself as people stop and stare.
"Everlyn?" Someone speaks. I turn around and see Abby standing there, smiling softly. Her eyes look over me, and Bellamy pulls me closer to him. "Are you all right?"
"Perfect," I mumble. Movement from my left causes me to look up. I jerk away as Finn moves towards me. Murphy inserts himself between Finn and me, blocking my view of him.
"Stay away from her," Murphy growls. Finn raises his hands in surrender and backs away.
"Let me get you checked out, okay?" Abby says. Murphy walks on my left side, keeping the people who are staring on the other side. He glares at them threateningly as we pass.
"Murphy, I'm okay," I lie. He glances down at me and says nothing, but doesn't back down on his murderous glares. Clarke and Octavia flank me, Abby leading the way. Once inside the makeshift med bay, Abby gestures to the medical bed. I sit, keeping my arms wound around myself.
Even as Abby checks me over, Bellamy, Murphy, and Clarke don't move too far away. Finally, Abby has enough.
"The three of you need to wait outside," she says, turning to look at the three of them. They look between each other, clearly not keen on letting me out of their sight. "I can't make sure she's okay if I can't move around to do it."
"I'm fine, guys," I assure quietly. "Just wait outside." Clarke is the first to move out of the tent, pulling Bellamy with her.
"Murphy, nothing will happen to her while you're outside the tent," Abby says. Murphy glances at Abby before following Clarke and Bellamy outside. As the tent flaps close, Abby lifts my shirt and examines my stitches. "They're healing nicely. What happened?"
"The first or the second time?"
"Both." She touches around the stitches tenderly, ignoring my sharp intake of breath.
"First I was shot with an arrow, and then the stitches were reopened rather violently when we were attacked at the dropship. Nyko fixed me up."
"Nyko?"
"My friend," I reply shortly. Abby glances up at me before returning her attention to my wound.
"Is he a Grounder?" I stay silent for a moment.
"Yes."
"And you trust him?"
"With my life," I answer immediately. Abby says nothing more on the matter.
"How long have the stitches been in?"
"About three days. I was thinking either two or three more says before it's safe to take them out."
"That's about right. Anything else wrong?"
Other than trauma and depression?
"No. Probably slightly dehydrated and malnourished, but that's about it." I pause, my mind catching up to where I am. "Where are my parents? Can I see them?" Abby's eyes soften, and she takes my hand.
"Everlyn..." Abby trails off, sitting on the cot next to me. "Your parents didn't make it to the ground."
"So they're still on the Ark, then? When will everyone else come down?"
"No, honey. The Ark split into three on the way down. This is the only part that didn't burn up in the atmosphere or completely crash. They weren't on this part." My mind goes blank.
