The adventures of Red

Chapter 10: The wolf thing.

Zeke and Red head out the back door heading straight into the woods.
"How are you doing?" Zeke asked
"Really? That's the question you are going to ask me? Let's have a little recap of the last two days. I have been told that I am promised to marry you. Oh, and that's not to mention the wolf thing." Red pauses for a second to catch her breath.
Zeke takes his opportunity to interrupt Red, "What wolf thing?  I didn't think me being a wolf bothered you."
"I don't have a problem with you being a wolf. I'm saying that two days ago I didn't even know about wolfs. Here I am today I'm being told I am one. Supposedly my red cloak is a magic cloak that hides me from being a wolf I feel like I have been lied to my whole life." Red explains.
"I understand that you have had a lot dumped on your plate the last two days, however I think you're overthinking all of this," Zeke says.
"Overthinking? You think I'm over thinking? You know what Zeke, maybe I am  overthinking. But, I'll walk home by myself," Red says.
Red starts to walk away from Zeke when he yells, "Oh come on Red, I didn't mean it like that. Let me walk you home."
"Nah, I'm good I can walk myself." Red says heading to her house. Red was hoping the cool air would help her think more clearly and to start processing some of this. However, it didn't help. Reaching her house Red walked into her bedroom and changed into pajamas. "Maybe I just need to sleep on it." Red says to herself.
After cleaning up Red lays down in her bed having a hard time falling asleep. All information from the past few days playing on a loop in her mind. Red here's the front door open and closes then Grace knocks on reds bedroom door.
"You awake kiddo?" Grace asked standing outside of Reds room.
"Yeah, I can't sleep," Red answers after a few seconds. She wasn't sure if she wanted to answer.
"Kiddo, I know the last few days have been hard on you." Grace says through the closed door.
Red gets out of bed, and walks over to open the door for her mom.
"Did you say hard? Math is hard mom. Being lie to my entire life, that's something else." Red says with attitude.
" I didn't mean to lie to you sweetheart, Grace says walking into Red's room, I just couldn't chance your daddy finding out. He made me walk away from our kind because he was worried about our safety."
"What reason did he have to not trust the pack?" Red asked.
"It was the situation between Poppa and Roy." Grace explains.
"But Roy did not hurt Poppa. You and Granny both told me that," Red protested.
" I know babe, but people just wouldn't believe us. Grace explained I am sorry you're hurt by all of this.  I am trying my hardest.  Raising kids don't come with a manual hunny."
" I understand your situation, Mom. I really do but I also have to have time to process all of this information, and if I don't have all the information I will not be able to process all of it,"Red says.
"I really do understand that Red. I promise I do. This is all new information to you and you didn't know it until now. I'm going to let you process and get some rest kiddo." Grace say getting up from Red,s bed. I love you kid.
"I love you too mom. Could you close the door?" Red asked.
"Yeah kid, I can do that." Grace says closing the door behind her.
Red laid in bed for a really long time trying to fall asleep. But the last few days were still occupying her mind until she fell asleep.
