Sebrina’s P.O.V

The fake injury saga was still going strong, and I was starting to regret this whole charade. Austin’s endless kindness was making me feel more guilty by the second. If he ever found out I faked the injury, he’d probably kill me—or worse, lecture me about honesty like some irritating life coach.

Austin strolled into my office, all casual confidence. “You ready?” he asked.

I grabbed my purse and limped behind him, trying to stay in character. "Are you sure you can walk?" he asked, concern written all over his face.

I can sprint faster than you, idiot, I thought, but instead, I just nodded like a good little actress.

The parking lot greeted us, and my jaw nearly hit the ground when I saw his car—a sleek black Bugatti. I had always known Austin was loaded, but damn. That car was like sex on wheels.

“You finally noticed,” he smirked, clearly amused by my reaction. “Feel lucky, you’re about to ride in the best car of your life.”

Not gonna lie, I was low-key regretting every time I had turned down his ride. I wasn't a gold-digger, but a Bugatti? Come on, anyone would feel blessed. He opened the door for me, and I tried to slide into the passenger seat gracefully, all while keeping up the fake limp. He climbed in next to me, leaned in closer, and I instinctively pressed back against the seat.

He chuckled. “Relax, I’m just buckling your seatbelt.”

I huffed, trying to hide the fact that his closeness—and those green eyes—were making my brain short-circuit. Focus, Sebrina, focus.

As he drove, I gave him my address, and we started chatting, mostly about work, until I threw out a curveball. "So, are you still with Valeria or are you guys over?" I asked casually, but I was dying to know if he had any idea about the Kai-Valeria office Olympics I’d witnessed earlier.

His face scrunched up in confusion. "Why would you think that?" he asked.

I shrugged, feigning indifference. "Just curious. I haven't seen you two together recently, so I wondered."

“She’s busy with her shoots, and I’ve been swamped with work.” He answered quickly, too quickly. Yeah, sure. Busy swapping spit with Kai—but I kept that thought to myself. Not the right time to blow up his world.

We pulled up to my place faster than I expected. I was still marveling at how smooth the ride was when I saw Polo heading toward the door. Great. Just what I needed—Polo and Austin in the same space.

Austin got out first and hurried around to open my door like some kind of gentleman. Oh right, my injury. I almost forgot I was supposed to be hurt. He offered me his hand, and I awkwardly took it, trying to hobble out of the car.

Polo ran over, looking alarmed. “What happened? Why are you limping?”

I quickly yanked my hand out of Austin’s. “I twisted my ankle, it’s nothing serious,” I lied through my teeth.

“And you didn’t call me?” Polo practically shouted, his concern morphing into frustration. I felt another wave of guilt for continuing this ridiculous lie. Ugh.

Austin cleared his throat, causing Polo to glance at him with suspicion. “And who’s this?” Polo asked, crossing his arms.

“Austin Hunt, my boss,” I introduced, hoping the formal tone would somehow make this situation less awkward. “He was kind enough to drive me home.”

Polo's eyes narrowed slightly. "Thanks for helping her," he said, but there was an unmistakable edge to his voice.

“No problem at all,” Austin replied smoothly, but I noticed a flicker of something on his face. Was he...nervous?

Polo turned to Austin again. “You should stay for dinner. It’s the least I can do for making sure she got home safe.”

Oh God, no, I silently screamed, shaking my head behind Polo’s back, but Austin saw me and smirked. Of course, he would do the opposite of what I wanted.

“Well, if you insist...” he started, but then his expression shifted. “Actually, I’ve got plans with friends tonight. Maybe another time.” He gave Polo a polite nod, and I exhaled in relief.

“Alright, next time then,” Polo said. Austin flashed me a final smile and got back in his car. As soon as he drove off, I bolted for the apartment like a bat out of hell.

“Wait! What just happened?” Polo called after me. “You ran—and your injury... are you faking it?!”

I groaned, spinning around to face him. “Fine, yes! It was a fake injury, but I’ll explain later. Right now, I’ve got to get ready, or Nadia will kill me!”

After a quick shower, I slipped into a black dress that was short enough to raise eyebrows but long enough to not get kicked out of the club. Smokey makeup, hair down, killer heels—I was ready.

When I came downstairs, Polo was still on the couch watching some game. He did a double take when he saw me. “Uh… don’t you think that’s a little short?”

I rolled my eyes. “Do I look bad?”

“No,” he said, his eyes still wide, “you look beautiful. It’s just... a little tight.”

“You just said I look beautiful. That’s all I needed to hear. Don’t worry, if anything happens, I’ll call you. I’m sending you my location now, so chill.”

I hugged him quickly and headed out the door, catching a cab to "The High Moon Club." The place was lit—music thumping, lights flashing, and the outside view had me dying to see what the inside was like.

As I walked through the entrance, the music hit me full force, and bodies swayed everywhere. I was about to call Nadia when I felt a tap on my shoulder. Turning around, I saw Ander, one of Nadia’s friends, giving me a big grin. “You look gorgeous, Seb,” he said, his eyes lingering a little too long on my dress.

Ugh, creepy. I forced a smile. “Thanks, where’s Nadia?”

He grabbed my hand and led me to our table. Nadia practically leapt into my arms the second she saw me. “You made it!”

“Let’s get this party started!” she shouted, handing me a drink. I laughed, already feeling like this night was exactly what I needed. Time to drown the drama in dancing and a little too much alcohol.

Tonight, I was determined to forget all the craziness. And for that, I definitely needed another drink.
