Serbian P.O.VAustin pulled me into his lap, his arms tightening around my waist. I could tell he was annoyed because I hadn’t invited him first, but honestly, this irritated version of him was kind of adorable. He looked cuter when he was sulking like a petulant child. Of course, I wasn’t going to let this moment slide without a little more teasing.
“We’re already late,” I whispered, trying to sound serious, though a smirk tugged at my lips. “People will see us. Let go.”
“Who cares?” He grinned, pulling me even closer. “I’m your boss, and I’m ordering you to stay exactly where you are.” His voice dropped, sounding husky and, annoyingly, way too seductive for the situation.
I bit my lip to stop the smile from spreading but failed miserably. “Since when did ‘boss’ come with this kind of authority?” I teased, but he didn’t waste time; his lips met mine, cutting off whatever sarcastic remark I was about to make.
His kiss was soft at first, slow, and far too sweet for someone trying to prove a point. Then, just like that, it turned into something else—hot, needy, hungry. I bit his lower lip, making him moan. My smirk only grew. “Mr. Grayson, don’t tease me,” he murmured, his grip tightening as he nipped at my neck.
I laughed softly, brushing my lips against his ear. “What are you gonna do about it?” My fingers slipped down to his shirt, undoing a few buttons just to get him even more worked up.
“You really don’t want to know,” he growled, but the way his breath hitched when I moved my hips had me suppressing a triumphant grin.
I leaned in as if to kiss him again, but just as he was about to respond, I pulled back, leaving him hanging. “You still mad at me?” I asked, innocently batting my lashes.
“Mad?” His voice was so raspy it sent shivers down my spine. “I—” Before he could say more, I slid off his lap, grabbing my bag like nothing happened.
His eyes widened in disbelief. “You did *not* just do that.”
I shot him a mischievous smile. “I did.”
As I made my way to open the door, I suddenly felt his hand wrap around my wrist, yanking me back to his chest. “Where do you think you're going?” His tone was playful but dark, and his eyes promised trouble.
I gave him an innocent smile. “Sir, please, I have work to do.”
He chuckled, looking down at his now half-unbuttoned shirt. “You better fix what you started, Ms. Flores.” I glanced at his open shirt, trying to keep from laughing.
"Well, maybe if you'd stop making a mess of yourself..." I trailed off as I started buttoning his shirt again, but his hands wandered down to my waist. “You’re forgetting something,” he whispered.
I glanced up, confused, until his lips crashed into mine, silencing every thought. I moaned into the kiss, and he pulled back just enough to smirk.
“Now, let’s go. We’re *actually* late,” he said, guiding me toward the office door.
As we headed to work, my phone buzzed in my hand. I glanced down to see two messages pop up—one from Kai, the other from Ander.
**Ander**: *Meet me at lunchtime.*
**Kai Hunt**: *Meet me in my office, but don’t tell Austin.*
I felt my heart race. What was Kai up to now? My stomach twisted in knots. Should I tell Austin that his brother wanted to meet me alone? Or talk to Kai first and then tell Austin?
Before I could think too hard, we reached his office. Austin handed me some documents, a satisfied smirk on his face, and I tried to focus. I barely had time to sit down at my desk when my phone buzzed again. Without thinking, I answered it.
“So, you’re ignoring me now?” came Kai’s deep, teasing voice from the other end.
I stiffened, glancing around nervously. “Sorry, sir, I’ve just been swamped with work.”
“When are you free?” His tone was too casual for my liking.
“It depends on my workload, sir.” I tried to keep it professional, but my hands were shaking slightly.
“It’s important,” he added, the playfulness gone. Before I could respond, he hung up.
I didn’t even have time to dwell on it before Austin strolled into my office, that mischievous smile back on his face. “What’s wrong?”
I plastered on my best smile. “Nothing. Just work stuff.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Uh-huh.” Clearly, he wasn’t buying it, but he didn’t push. “Come with me. I need my *assistant* in the board meeting.” He winked, making me laugh despite the nervous energy buzzing in me.
As we entered the boardroom, I noticed Kai sitting directly across from us. My pulse quickened, but I tried to ignore it. Maybe I was overthinking. Maybe this was all just work-related.
Austin’s hand, however, found its way to my thigh under the table, and suddenly ignoring the tension became a lot harder. I glanced at him, then noticed Kai staring—his eyes never leaving mine. I swallowed, feeling trapped between them.
Austin noticed too. His grip on my leg tightened, and his jaw clenched. I squeezed his hand under the table, trying to calm him down. No drama in a meeting room, please.
The meeting ended, and as I gathered my files, Kai’s voice cut through the room like a knife. “So, you’re free now?”
I froze. Austin narrowed his eyes at his brother. “No, she’s not. What do you want from her?”
Kai’s smile was slow and deliberate. “It’s personal.” His eyes flicked to mine as he added, “See you soon,” before walking out like he hadn’t just thrown a grenade into the room.
Austin turned to me, his eyes full of suspicion. “What was that about?”
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “He texted me earlier. Said he had something important to discuss. I was going to tell you, but then he—”
“So, you’re meeting him alone?” Austin interrupted, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
“No!” I nearly shouted. “I’m not going to meet him, Austin. I wasn’t planning to. I was going to tell you after work, but then he showed up like that.”
He let out a huff, grabbing me by the elbow and pulling me into a hug. “Sorry, Seb. I just don’t trust him around you.”
I hugged him back, sighing into his shoulder. “I know. But I’m not going anywhere, okay?”
Austin wasn’t going to let anyone—especially Kai—come between us. And honestly, I wasn’t going to let him, either.
