"Alberto..." Raquel breathed out as she stood still at one place. Her hands started trembling and the tears started rolling down her face. Monica didn't say anything, she just looked at the entrance of the clinic. He was there, he was there standing and chatting with some of the doctors. "W-w-what am I supposed to do now?" Raquel broke down in the tears. She was sobbing so hard.
"Raquel, Raquel," Monica called her name as Raquel looked at her. Her eyes were filled with fear, she was lost, she was broken and Monica could see that. "We can set up another appointment." Monica smiled kindly.
"No." Raquell exhaled as she wiped her tears off. "I have to stay brave." She looked down at her stomach. "At least for this little one when not for myself." She looked at Alberto and just like that she buried her trauma deep, deep down in her mind. Nothing was going to stop her. She rubbed her belly and started walking towards Alberto.
She didn't look at him, she tried to walk past him as quickly as she could, his presence was enough, she didn't want to confront him nor to speak to him, she wasn't ready for that. Monica walked next to her, she believed in her friend, but she still had that feeling that she needed to check on her, that she needed to know if everything was truly alright.
"Raquel?" She suddenly heard behind her back, but Raquel didn't even stop, she just ignored him, she was acting like he wasn't there at all. They both fastly walked into the elevator and closed the door behind them.
"Wow." Monica breathed out as they finally managed to relax for a while.
"Yeah..." Raquel took a deep breath.
"You were so brave." Monica smiled at her friend.
"Maybe." Raquel shrugged. "But I know this is not the end." She looked at Monica, but she only nodded. In the silence, they waited for the elevator to reach the floor where they, or more likely Raquel, had an appointment.
"Good morning." The nurse greeted them as they both sat in the waiting room. "Do you have an appointment?" She smiled kindly.
"Oh, yes, of course." Raquel nodded repaying her smile. "At 1 pm." The nurse nodded and looked at her tablet checking on the upcoming appointments.
"Alright, well, Ms. Murillo, I will call you into the office in a few minutes."
"Sure." Raquel nodded and the nurse disappeared back into the doctor's office.
"So..." Monica raised her eyebrows. "Are you nervous?"
"Of course I am." Raquel exhaled heavily.
"Don't be." Monica patted her shoulder. "Whatever will happen, we will be here." She smiled as Raquel looked at her.
"I can't thank you enough for that." Happy tears appeared in Raquel's eyes.
"Oh God, you're making me emotional." Monica giggled and hugged Raquel.
"Sorry." Raquel chuckled.
"Ms. Murillo." The nurse called her name. "Please come in." Raquel pulled away from Monica's embrace and without saying anything they both walked into the office.
"Good morning." The doctor greeted them with a smile.
"Good morning." Raquel smiled as well and they both sat on the chairs in front of them.
"So, what brings you here?" The doctor asked politely still smiling.
"Well..." Raquel took a deep breath. "I have been feeling weird lately..."
"Mhm." The doctor hummed and nodded in understatement.
"And it's been a while since I started feeling sick..." Raquel continued. "Also my period has been late, so after I noticed it I knew what could be going on..." She took a deep breath again. "I took a few pregnancy tests and the results were unsure, I took three of them, and two turned out to be positive and one negative."
