"Whatever you do... do not tell anyone what your quirk is...". Those words often echoed through your mind as you woke in the morning. Groggy from staying up too late on your phone, you groaned and turned over in bed fighting away the rays of light that shone through the gap in your curtains and danced on your face. For a moment your body relaxed again as the calming feeling of sleep overtook you once more- only for this illusion to shatter as your alarm blared its jarring tune causing your eyes to shoot open in surprise. After taking a deep breath, you hugged your duvet one last time before hopping out of bed and making your way downstairs.
As soon as you entered the warm atmosphere of the kitchen you could see the figure of Present Mic at the hob. His hair was tied back into a messy bun and a ridiculous frilly apron adorned his torso tied neatly with a bow at the back. A delicious smell of sweet and savoury washed over your senses once you sat down at the breakfast bar and grabbed the glass of orange juice already placed at your usual seat. "Good Morning y/n!", Hizashi called to you as he flipped the pan in his hands. You saw a fluffy pancake float through the air as it turned over and landed gracefully back into the pan. "Good morning...", you responded a little less energetically. He turned to you grinning expecting to see you only half awake but his features softened into a concerned frown as he placed the pancake onto a plate and brought it over to you, "Hey kiddo... What's the matter? You seem a bit off this morning". You shrugged avoiding eye contact, "I just had another dream about my mum... it's nothing really- they just always throw me for a loop y'know?". You could feel his body stiffen slightly at the mention of your mother, but he soon shook it off and focused on bringing you a knife and fork as well as some maple syrup. "I know what you went through wasn't easy- your mother was an amazing woman. But you know- I will always be here to take care of you. I made a promise to her and I don't plan on breaking it". You gratefully took the knife and fork and nodded fighting away the tears that were threatening to spill over, you managed a gentle thank you before tucking into the bacon-filled pancakes using a generous amount of syrup.
Breakfast was enough to lift your spirits and as the day went on and the dream got further away you soon began to forget what had been troubling you. Your energy felt limitless and your smile knew no bounds as you passed people by in the street. As you popped in and out of shops you grew a steady collection of paper bags full of tidbits like stationery and groceries and the odd piece of clothing that seemed too cute to ignore. You knew Hizashi wouldn't mind a couple of small personal purchases as you go about your day. Especially since you were planning to make him a lovely dinner for when he came back after a long shift at the hero agency. It wasn't until the playlist you were listening to ran out of songs that you noticed a large shadow pass overhead causing you to gaze up at the sky. As you continued to walk trying to figure out what it was, you suddenly came into contact with a large domineering figure fully face planting into what felt like a brick wall. Just about managing to catch yourself from falling you glanced up and saw the face of Endeavour staring over his shoulder toward you.
You staggered back, your breath hitching in your throat and stood frozen for a moment before bursting out into a string of apologies, "Oh- Goodness I am so sorry! I didn't see you- I was- Argh". Enji held up a hand to stop your rambling and sighed, "It's fine, just watch where you are going next time...". You nodded with fervour and felt red rising to your cheeks fully embarrassed about the whole situation. "Well well, what's going on here?", a voice suddenly perked up behind you. You turned to face the person it belonged to only to find yourself face to face with Hawks. "O-oh... I was just walking and- HEY! It must have been you flying around up there, I knew I saw something", your determined expression was enough to make the young man laugh. "Good job Sherlock", he chuckled sarcastically before turning to Enji, "Sorry I guess the collision was my bad then... and what is your name?", he asked, turning his attention back to you with a smirk now gracing his features. You ignored the slight tremble of your hands and smiled, instead deciding to direct your response to Enji, "Uh...y/n... I was just heading home- I really didn't mean to crash into you Endeavour... Sir". He nodded in response and then glanced at Keigo, "You are still on the clock, no distractions". He then began to walk down the street leaving the two of you in awkward silence.
You shuffled your feet and took a breath, "Well I better get going... I need to beat Hizashi back home today. It was nice meeting you", as you made your way to leave you felt Keigo's hand on your shoulder. "It was nice meeting you... that's it? Not even a picture or an autograph or anything?", he gazed at you questioningly. You scoffed slightly and shrugged his hand off of you, "Not that I don't respect you but- I don't really ask for things like that...". Keigo looked a little dumbfounded but then laughed, "Okay fair enough- well you heard The Number One Hero, I'm still on the clock. Need a lift home? It is getting a little late...". Before you even had time to respond, Keigo was hoisting you off the ground and he shot up in the air holding onto you.
Your first thought was to clutch your shopping bags for dear life, but when you looked up and saw your face so close to his you practically screamed. "Put me down- put me down!", you yelled out, distressing him a little. "Woah calm down, don't struggle so much! I don't want to drop you". You buried your face in your arms still clutching to the handles of your paper bags, "Do you- want me to put you down?" Keigo enquired, feeling a little embarrassed about the way you had frozen up in his grip. "Just take me to the Roppongi Apartment blocks! Please!", you cried out. He looked down at you worriedly but figured it was easier to just do as you said. He made sure to keep you as steady as possible and as he landed in front of the apartment block five minutes later. You sprang out of his grasp so quickly that he barely had time to land properly. "Woah I'm sorry- I didn't think you would be afraid of heights...", he chuckled nervously rubbing the back of his neck. You shook your head avidly and scowled, "I am not scared of heights- you just picked me up without asking and it was waaay too close to be comfortable and-". You were breathing really heavily and Keigo felt a pang of immense guilt as he saw how much he had distressed you, "Hey... are you alright? Just take it easy ok?". Without even a second glance you stormed into the building and made your way back to Hizashi's apartment. Keigo stood to watch at the entrance to the building for a moment longer just to make sure you were safe and took off again flying back to the route he was meant to be patrolling, 'I should keep an eye out for her so I can properly apologise when she is calmer', he thought to himself.
What he didn't see was you sitting outside the front door of the apartment holding your knees to your chest as all the worries from your dream began recirculating in your mind. Tears dampened your cheeks as your mother's last words flew around your mind over and over, "Do not tell anyone what your quirk is...". You took deep breaths in between your sobs as you thought about how close your face had been to his. How easily he could have overpowered you if he had just chosen to close the distance between your lips. I can't let anyone get close to me like that again... it was too close... your thoughts were interrupted as you felt a presence crouch down in front of you. Gazing up in fear your tense muscles began to relax as you recognised Hizashi's blonde spiked hair looming over you. He saw your expression and sighed concern lacing his features, "Come on sweetheart... let's get you inside".
