Rrrriiiinnngg!

Rrrriiiinnngg!

"Briar! Turn off that stupid alarm!" I heard my sister Lacey yell, bringing me out of my slumber. I slapped my hand around my nightstand, until finally finding the snooze button. Did I realize that I had to be at school in an hour and a half? Yes. But did I care? Not really.

I was a senior this year anyway so it was normal for us to be late, although my sophomore sister probably didn't appreciate being late. It's not like anyone would miss me anyway, I wasn't exactly a "popular kid". I was a social outcast, but I liked it that way.

Rrrriiiinnngg!

That snooze button really didn't last long, it never did though. I hit the alarm once more, and sat up in my bed. I stretched my arms out, and put on my nerd glasses. After about five minutes, I finally mustered up enough strength to get out of bed. I hurried to the shower, thankfully beating Lacey. Don't get me wrong, I love my sister, but she takes so long to get ready that I have to practically run to get to the shower so I can make it on time.

I quickly showered, blow dried my hair, and went back to our bedroom to get ready. I put on a white cutoff that said "Let's Roll" on the front in black, slid on a pair of ripped, dark blue jeans, tied a red plaid flannel around my waist, and paired it with black combat boots. It was my usual style, but I loved it. I let my hair go natural, it's dark brown curls going halfway down my back, I then put on a little makeup, and left for school.

I pulled my red Jeep Cherokee into the school parking lot at 8:35, I was only five minutes late, so that wasn't too bad. I parked in my designated parking spot and hurried into the school, only making it to my locker right as the warning bell rang. I quickly gathered my books, and made it to class just as the tardy bell rang.

I daydreamed as Mr. Taylor droned on about limits, and soon enough the bell rang signaling me to go to my next class. I walked with my best friend Aria to my locker, and put the last of my books up just as someone slammed my locker shut.

"Watch it, nerd." I heard the nasally voice of Addison McKinley, aka the most popular (and dumbest) girl in school, say.

I turned around to her, "Aria, did you hear something?"

Aria looked around and said with a smile, "No. I didn't hear a thing."

"Awh! You're acting like I'm the invisible one, when the invisible ones are actually you all. How cute!" Said the Queen Bee.

"I'm sorry Addison, but I have more important things to worry about than you. And quite honestly, I feel like I'm losing brain cells just talking to you!" I wrinkled my nose at her, and then imitated her voice, "Ta ta now."

After that my day was quite uneventful. I sat through my classes, and finally the bell for lunch rang. I quickly walked to my locker, so ready to finally be able to eat. As I approached my locker, I saw Aria standing in front of it.

The bubbly red head always made my days much better, although the I'm still trying to figure out why she's my friend. Aria is one of the most popular, and one of the prettiest, girls in school. She had auburn hair, olive skin, bright blue eyes, and the boys loved her.

"Briar! Briar! Briar!" She squealed.

"Yes Aria?" I said much less excited.

"We're going to a party tonight!"

"I'm not sure if that's such a good idea Ari..."

"Why wouldn't it be? It's a Friday night and you'll have such a good time!"

"Nothing good happens at parties like that though."

"Parties like what?" She asked, slightly offended. Call me a party pooper, but I just didn't see what was fun about going to parties and getting drunk. Aria had tried to get me to hang out with her group of friends multiple times, but I always denied. I guess I just preferred to be alone.

"Yknow, parties with alcohol and drugs and stuff."

"Just come this one time, please!" She pleaded.

"Aria..."

"It'll be so much fun!"

"Aria I don't know..."

"Do it for me! Please Briar! Pleeeeeaaasee!"

"Okay okay! I'll go." I finally gave in. After all, what was the worst that could happen? I was a teenager, wasn't I supposed to go to these things?

At last, the final bell rang signaling school was over. I went to my locker, grabbed my backpack, and walked out to the parking lot. It was a beautiful day out, the sun was shining, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. I was almost to my car when I tripped over my own foot. I almost hit the ground when I was suddenly caught by two strong arms.

Who was this savior of mine?

I looked up at him, but couldn't see his face because the sun was so bright.

"Oh my gosh! Are you alright?" Asked the mystery man. I knew that voice anywhere.

Oh. My. God.

It was Dean Michaels. The most popular guy in school. I could not believe it!

"Oh uhm yeah yeah I am I am just great." I stuttered. He pulled me back up on my feet and dusted off my arms.

"You sure?" He asked me. God he was gorgeous.

"Yeah I am just wonderful. Totally fine. Not even a scratch." I laughed awkwardly.

He looked at me weirdly. "Well alright then. Uhm, see you later." He walked away. I walked, practically ran, to my Jeep. I could not believe that just happened! I got to my Jeep and I squealed like a little girl on Christmas morning.

Best. Day. Ever.
