Like I Don't Exist

I awoke the next morning by loud knocking on my bedroom door, and then a figure entering. Oh God. I didn't even have to ask who it was.

"Briiiaarr. Briiiaarr. Wakey wakey."

"What do you want Mom?" I know, maybe wasn't the nicest way to talk to my Mom, but we didn't really get along.

"I was just checking on you sweetie, it's almost 10:30, you never sleep this late."

"Well I'm fine. Now if you would please get out." I saw a look of hurt flash across her face, but quickly disappeared.

She gave a weak smile and said, "Okay sweetie." Then exited the room. She was so infuriating, how could she just act like nothing happened? I didn't understand. What was wrong with these people?

She acted like she could just move to a new town and forget about everything that happened. But you can't. You can't just do that.

I shoved my head into my pillow and let out a silent scream.

~~~
The next morning was Monday. I hated Mondays, mostly because of school. I didn't really want to face anyone today, especially after what happened Friday night.
I was going to thank Dean today. I mean he could've easily let me lay in that hallway, but he didn't. Maybe he isn't that bad after all. I wasn't really sure what to say to him though, I had been going over speeches in my head all morning.
Something maybe like; Hey Dean! Thanks for not letting me lay in the hallway like an idiot! Really appreciate it buddy!
Maybe this isn't such a good idea.
I was absentmindedly walking down the hallway trying to decide what to say when I accidentally ran into someone. "Oh my gosh I am so sorry!"
The girl turned around and it was none other than THE Addison McKinley. Of course. Just my luck. "Watch it loser." She said, and snickered. "I know you're invisible and everything, but you could at least watch where you're going."
"Oh I'm so sorry, I would've tried to move but your ego was just so big that I couldn't see where I was going!" I fakely gushed to her. She gave me a look straight from hell, so I batted my eyelashes and walked away confidently.
I saw Dean with his buddies a few lockers down from me, and strode over to him. "Hey Dean, can I talk to you for a sec?"
He just looked at me for a moment, "And who are you again?" He smiled devilishly.
"Briar. The girl you saved in the hallway at the party? Remember?"
"Why would somebody like me remember somebody like you?"
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me, loser."
"Aw did the poor little girl get rejected?" I heard the fake nasally voice
that I knew all too well.
Should I have walked away?
Yes.
Did I?
Of course not.
"Just when I thought you might've been different from everyone else, you prove me wrong once again." I said quite angrily, and stormed away.
"Why would you think that little girl? You don't even know me." I heard him yell behind me and as I walked out the double doors of the school, I heard all of the people in the hall erupt into laughter.
Good going Briar.
After the incident at school, all I wanted to do was sleep. So that's exactly what I did.
