I woke up in a stranger's bed.
My head was pounding.
And I had no idea where I was.
I sat up, and I instantly felt dizzy.
"Briar you're awake!" I heard a voice say. I think it was Aria.
"Where am I?" I asked, my voice hoarse.
"You're in Hunter's room Briar. You blacked out during the party, we're pretty sure you were roofied. Dean found you laying on the ground, he picked you up, found me, and we brought you up here. I've been watching you ever since, Dean left an hour or so ago."
"Wait what? He stayed?" This floored me.
"It took forever to convince him to leave."
"Doubtful..." I muttered under my breath, "What time is it?"
"It's 8 am."
"Are you serious? My mom is gonna freak!" I started panicking.
"Relax, I told her you were staying the night with me."
"We need to get out of here." I got up, still wobbly on my feet.
"Your wish is my command." Aria said and handed me a pair of sunglasses, "You might need these."

After I got home I took a nice long shower and then a nap. I also charged my phone, and as soon as it came back to life I was bombarded with text messages from Aria. I chose to stay in my room the rest of the day, and decided to watch a movie. I popped The Dark Knight into the DVD player, and cuddled under my Superman blanket.
Nerdy, I know.
Truth is, I'm a huge fan of superheroes. I have superhero posters every where on my bedroom walls, and I mean pretty sure I own every copy of every Batman and Captain America comic book ever made. Judge me if you must.
Superheroes are life.
I was quite happily watching my movie when I was rudely interrupted by none other than my sister Lacey. "What do you want?"
"Can't I hang out with my favorite sister?" She asked sweetly. Way too sweetly.
"I thought McKenna was your favorite sister?" McKenna was our 2 year old adopted sister, and also Lacey's world.
"Well she is, but you're okay too."
"Wow thanks. So what do you want?"
"I need your help."
~~~
It was 1 A.M. and I was at a stranger's house.
For some idiotic reason, helping my sister steal a cat.
She told me some sob story about how she was at the park earlier today and saw a man being abusive towards his kitten, and that she followed him to his house so she could come back later and take the kitten. My sister loves animals, if you couldn't tell. And I'm sure you're wondering why I'm helping her with this stupid plan, it's because Lacey threatened to tell mom that I went to a party and got flat out drunk.
How she found out, I will never know. Ugh, sisters.
We sat behind the stranger's house in my car for 15 minutes before finally spotting the kitten. Lacey quickly jumped out of my car, and hopped over the back fence with ease. How did she get so good at that? What has that girl been up to? She disappeared and I started to get nervous. After five minutes of waiting, I quietly got out of my idle car.
"Lacey..." I whisper-yelled as I crept up to the fence. I'm sure I looked like a total creeper.
"Over here..." She whispered back.
"You got the cat?"
"Yeah, I'm coming!" She whispered, just as she kicked a paint can. It made a really loud noise, like seriously? Paint cans aren't supposed to make that much noise! I saw a light turn on from a room upstairs in the house.
"Hide!" I whisper yelled at her, as I dove down praying that the fence provided enough cover.
"Who's out there?!" I heard a burly man's voice yell. He was quiet for a moment, I assumed he was looking around. "Must've been that stupid cat, always making noise." I heard the door slam shut, and breathed a sigh of relief. I did not want theft to go on my record, that would look so great for colleges, right?
I stayed ducked under the fence for a five or fifteen minutes just to make sure the man didn't come back outside, like I said. Really not feeling getting arrested. I mean catnapping is a serious crime.
Soon enough Lacey was gliding back over the fence, and we both semi-quietly ran back to my car. She pulled the kitten out from the inside of her jacket, and it let out a quiet meow. It actually was a cute little kitten, it was calico and had bright green eyes. It was very tiny, and looked as if it hadn't been fed very well in its entire life.
I gave it a quick pat on the head, earning a purr from the calico. "I cannot believe we went through all of that for a kitten." I told my sister, who was, of course, infatuated with the little kitten.
"Oh please, deep down in that cold, cold heart of yours, you like cats." She retorted. I just laughed at her as I drove down the road. She picked her new toy up and just held it in front of her, quite happy. That is, until the calico peed all over Lacey's chest and stomach, which made her squeal like a little girl.
Maybe cats aren't all that bad.
