4 year old reader POV:

I was laying in bed trying to sleep, but all I could hear were my parents fighting.

"I don't want you around her anymore." I could hear my mother yell.

"Why not? I'm her father and I've never done anything to hurt her." I could hear my dad. Not as well since he doesn't like to yell at my mother.

I quietly get and go to the door. I open it and sneak down the hall and go to the top of the stairs so I can hear them better.

"You're always drinking. Do you really think I want her to see that?" My mother yelled.

"I don't drink that much. I only have a few beers at night. Most of the time after she has gone to sleep." I hear my dad say.

"Still I don't want her around you." My mom is still yelling.

I can feel tears coming to my eyes.

"Well, what do you plan on doing then?" I hear my dad ask. I hear something in his voice but I can't tell what it is.

"I'm divorcing you. I want you out of this house and away from us. You've done nothing but ruin my life from the day I met you. I never loved you and I never wanted a child." I hear my mom yell.

She doesn't want me? A few tears slip from my eyes.

"If you don't want her then why don't I just take her. Unlike you I actually care about her." My dad says. Yes, please take me dad.

"No, I'm keeping her. I'm sure she will be useful for something. Don't even try and take her from me. We both know the court will have her stay with her mother anyway." My mom yells.

I don't hear my dad answer, but I do hear the front door open and slam shut. I hear footsteps coming toward the stairs, so I quickly and quietly run back to my room, close the door, and hop into bed. I hear someone pass my room and slam another door shut. I can only guess its my mother and she went into her room.

From then on it was just me and her. I hadn't seen my father since. My mother was horrible after he left. She would yell at me and make me do everything for her once I was old enough. I had to cook and clean for her. She never hit me, but it still hurt when she told me I ruined her life and I was the reason that dad left. That confused me cause I thought she had said dad ruined her life and she was the reason she left. I never said anything though cause I didn't want to get into trouble for eavesdropping. The only escape I had was hockey. Once I was old enough I went out and met with my friends. My best friend became Charlie Conway. He was the one that gave me skates and hockey stick.

Well that's enough for the prologue. I don't want to say too much in this. I just wanted to give you an idea about what happened when Bombay left and how it will play into the story. Obviously you are 4 at the start of this and you met Charlie and other friends between the time this happened and when you turned 11. I don't know that actual ages of everyone in the movie so I'm saying at the start of Mighty Ducks you, Charlie, and Adam are 11.
