MMPSH: Edward's Struggle

Chapter 4: Ivy

Edward saw a Leafeon girl scolding at one of her parents and then turned away. She wasn't seeing where she was going and ran into him.

"I'm so sorry," she wailed, "I was so in rage I didn't even look where I was going!"

"It's alright," Edward replied, "I'm Edward."

"Name's Ivy," the girl grinned, "I just want to get away from my parents for a while."

"Well, come with me," Edward added, "I'll take you some place away from all this."

Ivy took is offer and started following him. She might have a hint she can trust him. When Edward saw Fuyuki coming, he greeted his brother.

"Another recruit?" the Raichu boy asked, "She looks strong."

"No, I'm not interested in joining any group," Ivy added.

"Ah, but you should," Fuyuki insisted, "You'll be away from all those who hurt you."

"Maybe just temporarily," Ivy sighed.

Then three days later, Edward heard Ivy and another girl.

"Ivy, I have a bad feeling about this group you're hanging out with," she said, "You shouldn't have accepted this."

"You worry too much Rose," Ivy added, "They're not that bad. Edward seems like a nice boy and I don't know about his brother..."

"That Raichu boy is trouble!" Rose argued, "I wouldn't trust him if I were you."

Edward was confused and returned home for a bit. Fuyuki was also gone, maybe to do something with Sora. When they returned, Edward saw blood on his brother's shoes and Raichu tail.

"I took care of one thing that will surely make that girl join," he added.

"Don't tell me you-"

Edward's worry turned into panic. Did his brother really took care of Ivy's parents? He hope Ivy would never find out about it or her older sister Rose.

"Ah, I can hear her now," Fuyuki added.

Ivy came running to the entrance. Her eyes full of tears.

"They're gone..." she wailed.

Edward's hunch was right. Fuyuki did do something terrible to her parents. She came to him and hugged him. Edward sighed and hugged her back in comfort.

"Everything will be okay," he cued, "I lost someone dear to me once."

Ivy looked at him.

"You're such a kind friend Edward," she sobbed.

Edward held her for as long as he could. He got Kana to help her calm down at least.

It was a big mission today. Fuyuki ordered Edward, Sora and Ivy to free some pumas from the zoo. Sora got the cage where three pumas were trapped. Edward had a very bad feeling the plan won't go well. Edward saw Sora open a cage where a trapped orange puma is.

"Ivy run!" He called out.

Ivy leaped off the cage as the puma swat at her. She ran to the forest. She was about to get to the plateau, but it was too steep to climb.

"Edward!" Ivy cried, "Help me!"

Edward froze, unable to help his friend. The orange puma cornered her. He heard her scream as blood sprayed the wall of the rocky hill. Ivy used razor leaf and chased the puma away.

'She didn't need my help,' he thought, 'I could have helped her.'

He felt sick as he saw Ivy's face. Her right eye clawed out as blood dripped from her empty eye socket. Ivy was in shock as she stared at her reflection in a nearby stream. She leered at Edward, rage filled her remaining eye. Edward tried to make an escape, but she could tell his feet didn't move.

"You idiot!" Ivy screamed.

She slapped Edward hard and tackled him to the ground. Edward felt her blood on his shoulder as he tried to get her off him. Ivy didn't loosen her grip on him.

"You did nothing but froze like a coward!" she snapped, "I took the fall for you, now look what's happened to my eye!"

"I'm sorry..." Edward wailed.

He knew Ivy would kill him any second.

"Ivy, calm down," Kana added, "I'll see what I can do for your eye."

"Figures..." Ivy snorted, "You're blind."

"Don't underestimate what I can do," Kana groaned, "Slapping Edward isn't solving anything and you know it. Blame Fuyuki instead."

"That's what I'll do," Ivy huffed.

She got off Edward.

"You will regret this someday..." she growled before she left.

Kana helped Edward to his feet.
"Sorry about what she did to you," the Mew said with pity, "She's just upset about what happened to her parents and her eye just now."

"She didn't have to throw all her anger on me," Edward explained, "That really hurt."

"Sora did tell me it was Fuyuki who killed her parents to make her join him," Kana shrugged, "Maybe he just doesn't care what happens to them."

Now Ivy no longer trusts him, and Edward felt all alone after the ten minutes have passed.
