"Do you enjoy seeing me like this? Do you enjoy breaking my heart?" Hope's words keep repeating in my head. How could she think that of me? Of course I didn't want to see her being hurt. I hated seeing her cry and I never wanted to break her heart. But I couldn't have her here. She was getting deep inside my mind, myself, my life, and I can't have that. I have a family business to run and that's all that can have my attention. I have a hurt brother and that's all that matter now, him and finding who hurt him. I check my phone and see it's almost 4am. She should be home by now. I play with the liquor in my cup before I chug it down. I stand up for to serve myself some more when the door is open.
"The doctor left already, he was able to remove the bullet and Sam got the blood transfusion. He'll be fine soon." Harrison says walking in.
"Good." It's all I say.
"What happened with Hope?"
"She's gone." I say and he shakes his head. "You have something to say Harrison? Say it."
"No, I told you what I had to say already." He says. "How are you holding up?"
"I'm good." I lie. "We need to find out who did this to Sam."
"Yeah, we'll be going back to the port today and see what we can find." He says.
"Ok." I say chugging down the alcohol again.
"Are you sure you're ok?"
"Im fine mate, go get some rest." I say and Harrison nods before exciting the office. I grab my phone and contemplate the idea of calling her. I want to know she's ok, I know she's afraid of flying. God dammit why did I send her alone? But I can't call her, she's upset and won't answer me, I know it. So I decide to dial another number and hope for an answer quick.
"Hello?"
"Hi Mar, it's Tom." I say to the phone thanking god she answered.
"Hi Tom," mar says with a sleepy voice on the other end. "How are you?"
"I'm good. Umm hey, have you talked to Hope?" I ask nervously.
"Not since yesterday evening, is everything alright?"
"We'll hope flew back home tonight, or well last night. And I just wanted to make sure she made it safely."
"Have you tried calling her?" She asks.
"Uh no, we weren't on best terms when she left." I say and feel a wave of regret hitting me.
"I can try calling her. What time was her flight?"
"Little bit past midnight."
"Oh she should be here already then. Let me call her and I'll let you know."
"Yes please, thank you Mar." I say before hanging up the phone. She is going to answer her, that's her best friend. I just have to wait until Mar calls me back to tell me Hope is home and I can go to bed too. Minutes later my phone rings again and I see it's Mar.
"Hello?"
"She's not answering her phone. I called Diego and he said she's not there. He didn't know she was coming either." She says.
"Is there somewhere else she could be? Another friend? A family member?"
"She doesn't have any family and no other friends that i know of." I remember she told me this. Her only friends are Mariana and Diego and neither of them know where she is at. "How did she get here?"
"On a comercial flight."
"Do you have the flight number? I'm going to call the airport to make sure her flight got here." Mariana says and I feel chills on my body. No, nothing could've happen to her plane.
