chapter four | first kiss

( A/N: Please ignore my horrible description of the kiss. I haven't had the first kiss in my life and I have no idea what I'm doing. Don't forget to comment and vote because it motivates me to write.)

Sometimes I think there's a demon who wanted to kill me but fell in love with me along the way and now he's protecting me. And by other guys. That's the only explanation why no boy wants to be with me. The demon comes to his house, possesses him or whatever demons do, and tells him to stay away from me or he's going to kill him.

I mean, what would be another explanation? Beautiful? I am. Smart? Not really, but no one's perfect. Funny? Hell yeah. Trustworthy? Sure. No one knows that Tamara threw her sister's fish into the toilet because she was jealous of her. Jealous? Only if you give me reasons. And besides, I'll never get bored of you.

All these qualities and no one wants me. Well, their loss. It's not my fault. Or is it if my theory is true. I should give it a name.

'The theory of the demon in love.' Or 'the theory of the protective demon.'

The second one seems to sound better.

"Nevaeh, you should also eat something other than pancakes." my mother catches my attention when she places the plate full of pancakes in front of me.

I smile softly at her and notice how tired she seems. Her brown eyes now have deep dark circles that she tries to hide with a foundation. Small cuts appeared on her soft hands that had been stroking my hair for some time so I could fall asleep. Her manicure is unkempt and some nails don't even have nail polish on them. Wrinkles appear more and more often but do not destroy her beauty. I think she's the only person I know who makes wrinkles more beautiful.

"Today is the first time I've eaten pancakes this week. You should be proud, not judge me." I tell her in a playfully false tone.

"And how much did you eat last week?" My mother asked me as she raised her left eyebrow.

7 times.

"Did you talk to Lilah?" Lilah is my older sister. She is 26 years old and pregnant. She married the boy of her dreams at the age of 22 and have been together ever since. I swear I've never seen a couple so cute and so in love with each other. They quarrel almost every day over small things but at the end of the day, Mick always makes her laugh. And I think this is the most important thing. It doesn't matter how much you argue that person is always by your side and makes you laugh.

"I talked about 2 days ago. She told me about how she started crying because she had a dream in which Mick cheated on her. And Mick made her a romantic candlelit dinner and declared his eternal love."
