Big Red's Pov:

It was 3 am before I got home that night. Both my parents and Hannah were still wide awake on the couch looking worried, Hannah must have told them what had happened

As soon as I walked in the door Hannah ran over to give me a hug and I broke down in her arms as every bit of anxiety that I'd been holding in all night exploded out

"How is she?"

She asked when I finally was able to pull myself back together

"I dun know, she's better at the moment but we have no idea what's actually going on. The doctor didn't really take her seriously either, just did some basic tests, gave her some meds and sent us on our way"

"Oh dear, poor Ash"

She said sympathetically

"Yup, she's tough too. Doesn't complain easily, there's no way this is just some minor thing"

"Exactly"

She sighed

Our mother came over looking dreary eyed, Ashlyn was practically her fourth child in our household (except not really because that would make us dating really weird), she's just over here so much that she's become family, you get what I mean

"Hey I know you two are worried and so am I but staying up all night isn't going to help, you guys have school tomorrow. You can skip the first couple periods and sleep in a bit but you're not skipping the whole day"

"I'm exhausted but I also don't feel like I'll be able to sleep"

I countered honestly

"Same"

Hannah was right there with me, too worried to sleep

"Just try"

We groaned as I headed downstairs to my basement bedroom. Instead of sleeping I turned to my laptop and started researching her symptoms, but Dr Google wasn't helping. There were just too many options of what it could be and it was just making me paranoid, eventually I feel asleep with my laptop on top of me and woke up to my alarm a half an hour later

At lunch the next day I left school with an excused absence note for a "College Visit" (thanks mom) and drove to the Caswell residency to check on Ashlyn who stayed home all morning (against her will) with a bag of over the counter pharmaceuticals in my hand

"It's open!"

She yelled as soon as she heard the door bell ring

The girl was on the couch catching up on homework she was behind on due to it being tech week, of course, why would she ever take an actual break?

"Hey Ash, how are you feeling?"

I asked her softly as I sat down beside her

"I feel fine, honestly. I'm not really sure what happened yesterday but I feel almost normal. I was kindoff hoping you'd drive me to rehearsals?"

"Almost normal? Are you still in any pain?"

"A little, nothing I wouldn't expect."

"Ash, has this happened before?"

She sighed and started picking her nails. Her resorting to her nervous habit told me everything I needed to know

"Not nearly to that extent. But whatever, I'm fine now and we have a show to put on"

Man is she stubborn

"I don't want you to feel like I'm your patent or anything but I really don't think you should go"
