"Are you sure you haven't forgotten anything Maddy?"
"I'm sure I have everything but why don't you ask Theo?"
"You know you are forgetful don't you?" Dad grinned.
"Just say I'm too stupid for Hogwarts already," I said frowning.
"You are anything but stupid Madeleine. I wouldn't be too surprised if you made it to Ravenclaw," he sighed.
Again with the comparison. My mother was a Ravenclaw, and I'd be more than proud to be one. It's almost been a year since her death, and we never spoke about it. Even Theo wouldn't talk to me about it, which was heart-wrenching. All my thoughts, words, and feelings were bottled up, and I was in desperate need of support. But sometimes I realize that dad and Theo lost her too, and I didn't want to be selfish.
I hugged my dad and said our goodbyes. I knew I would see him often, but it still hurt leaving him all by himself at home. We got onto the train, and as expected, Theodore hastily strode away from me towards the other slytherins. I felt the anxiety kick in as I walked past the compartments looking for an empty seat.
I found a girl sitting by herself in one of the compartments, wearing a hot pink jacket, fiddling with her bright coloured rings. She had long, caramel-blonde hair that curled prettily about her neck. She looked like the kind of person I would get along with, so I didn't hesitate before talking-
"Is this seat taken?"
"No- wait let me help you-" she said, helping me with my belongings. I was startled. People out here are so nice, I thought to myself. I sat down facing her, tucking my hair behind my ear. She had the most beautiful smile I've seen. Her cheeks and lips were the perfect shade of pink, just like her outfit.
"I'm Amelia by the way. Amelia Remmington" she said jauntily. Her presence and cheerfulness made my whole day.
"Madeleine Nott" I said, my lips curving into an affectionate smile. She gazed at me in awe for a moment, before speaking again-
"You're Theodore Nott's sister?" she asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
"Yep that's me" I said tilting my head to glance at the other compartments.
"Do the two of you happen to know each other?" I interrogated.
"Not really, but I do hang out with his friend Adam Pucey quite often" she remarked, visibly blushing.
