Attempting to make your presence more noticeable, you peek your head around Jean's broad shoulders and try your best not to give the girl a death glare.

"Oh um. I'm Jean and this is my girlfriend-"

"Y/n, right?" Mikasa finishes the sentence for him.

Jean turns his head towards you with his eyebrows furrowed, looking for answers. The only thing you can provide in return is the same facial expression he wore and a shrug.

"Do you two know each other? You've never mentioned a Mikasa before." Jean scratches the back of his head as confusion takes over.

"Oh no don't be confused. Y/n and I have never met before." Mikasa smiles.

"Care to explain how you know who I am then?" You ask, giving her a fake smile.

"How could I not? My father is the dean of students so sometimes I like to peek at the admissions files. I have to say Y/n, yours impressed me a lot. Perfect test scores and a full ride into this university, even though you didn't really need it since you could've used daddy's money." She explains with a smirk which causes Jean's eyes to widen.

As she is explaining, you try to take a sip of your coffee but quite literally almost choke when she mentions your dad. The fact that she brought him up without even knowing you pisses you off.

Yeah, you have never had trouble with money, that was a fact. Your dad has loads of it. But you have always hated him ever since he left your mother. He was a piece of shit and left when your mother needed him most. You didn't want to use his money to get your education paid for. You were gonna do it all on your own just to spite him. Though ever since he left you and your mother behind, he felt guilty and sends you allowances every week that do come in clutch.

You open your mouth to go off on her but Jean beats you to it. Jean was the only person who knew about your relationship with your dad so you appreciate him for defending you.

"You don't know shit about Y/n or her family so stop trying to act like you-"

His phone dings interrupting him mid sentence. He looks down at it and lets out a heavy sigh before standing up.

"I have to go to class. I'll see you later, babe. Love you." He plants a kiss on the top of your head and you mumble your goodbyes to him.

"Nice meeting you, mi casa." He mispronounces her name on purpose before exiting the cafe.

Mikasa sighs and moves over, filling in Jean's empty seat. She gently places her hand on yours and presents eyes of remorse.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you guys mad.  I had no idea that it was a sensitive topic." She apologizes.

"It's whatever. Don't worry about it." You utter.

Scoffing lightly to yourself, you move your hand away from hers to pull your phone out of your pocket and place it on the table. As soon as your phone makes contact with the table, it lights up with a message from Eren.

Eren:

Let's hang out tomorrow?

Your eyebrows immediately furrow at the sight but Mikasa's reaction is quite different. You notice her softly smirk then nonchalantly turn her head away, trying to make it seem like she wasn't looking.

"Do you know Eren?" You shamelessly ask. If she could bring up someone from your past, you could too.

"No. I don't know an Eren. Is he your friend?" She confesses, bringing her gaze back to you with an innocent look cemented to her face.
