I stared at the picture in the frame. My daughter has Becky's eyes. Her smile, her nose, her hair, and my stubbornness.
My stubbornness. That was the reason I was here. My parents always told me to be either a lawyer or doctor. I was stubborn, I'd always wanted to work for the government. It was my dream.
My stubborn dream that allows me to only see those two beautiful girls of mine about once in a blue moon. Danielle would never eat her vegetables. I hope she won't end up as stubborn like me.
My train of thought was interrupted by a woman's voice
"Sir." It was Agent M. "The scientists noticed something well... uh... strange about the meteor that just recently hit." She paused looking at me for affirmation to elaborate. I gave her a nod as a confirmation for her to continue telling me.
"The meteor not only contained a electricity, that caused the power outage, but it also contained some sort of genetic modifier. A substance that could have altered the genes of people when the wave of electricity was emitted."
"Do the scientists know where this meteor came from," I asked the agent.
"Yes and no. They believe that it must've come from another solar system."
"Ok and so it must have taken many, many, many years to get here"
"That's just the problem, sir. The scientists believe the rock is relatively new. The rock, sir, it was also most likely man made."
"Are you saying that whatever this was, was created by some sort of... alien"
"They don't know sir."
"Well first we should look for those genetically modified people before something terrible happens."
"Sir, the scientist already started making a tracking device that detects genetic material that has been genetically altered in a strange way. The scientists also believe that the substance targeted younger people. It is sort of like a parasite trying to find the best host."
"Ok send a few agents to get these people and bring them here. I never thought I'd see the day where a bunch of kids and aliens would be the government'a biggest problem. Thank you Agent M. Now go, we have kids to find"
"As you wish, sir,"said Agent M as she hurriedly walked away.
I turned back to my desk and kissed Danielle and Becky. "Goodbye my darlings." I got up from my desk and prepared for a storm.
