Hello! Ok, so I know this is like, super super super late, but I've been really busy with school and band and my internet acting up.... It's just so stressful! *Sigh* Oh well. At least I updated, right? Haha

~Chapter 1~
"Good morning New York! The pigeons are cooing and it's a bright and sunny morning today, on June 1, 20--"
Wham! Wham! Wham!
I slammed my hand down on the radio clock hoping to stop the irritating man's voice from talking any further. It was six o'clock in the morning on a Saturday, and a week after school let out. Most graduates would be partying it up, but not me. Oh no, not as the daughter of Nicholas Fury; a very well known man in the world within our world. The world of assassins, spies, superheroes, villains, and crazy scientists. In that world, people will do anything to have power. Even if that means kidnap, murder, harassment, world domination... the list goes on and on. Because of this, everywhere I go, there's always someone watching me in the shadows for my dad. He likes to make sure I'm safe and stuff. I think it's annoying, though. I can't even walk out of the house to get the mail without my mom or dad asking me where I'm going. It's like they think some evil mastermind will swoop in and snatch me, although they know that I'm fully capable of fighting for myself.
"Rise and shine, hun! You've got a big day ahead of you, and if you want to be on time, now's the time to get up," called my mom from the door.
I mentally groaned. How could I forget about the internship? It was the day I've been looking for since I was a little girl, but now that it's here, I just want to go back to bed. Flipping away from the door, I dug my face into the pillow.
"Five more minutes, mommy," I yawned. "That's all I need."
Knowing my mom well enough, I knew immediately she was shaking her head in amusement.
"Oh no, not today. Your father will have a fit, and a first impression of being late will not look good on your first day."
Sighing in defeat, I looked at my mom. Her chocolate brown eyes stared back at me with a stern look on her medium brown skinned face. She had dark brown-almost-black colored hair that went slightly passed her shoulders and were curled at the end. I looked like my mom in many ways. I inherited her hair and eye color, small nose, and body figure. Most people can tell instantly that I'm her daughter, but others say I look more like my dad. It's kind of weird.
"I guess I'll get up now..." I said, trailing off in the end.
Nodding with approval, she walked out.
Actually getting up took me a few minutes since my mind was still half asleep. When I decided to commit to waking up fully, I checked the time. It was now ten minutes after six. Walking over to my curtains, I pulled them open and gazed out the window. The park across the street was littered with a few people, which wasn't uncommon at this time. It's funny to think, though, that those people would not be here today if it wasn't for my dad and his friends. Heck, I wouldn't be here.
Loki would've taken over the world and kill millions of people in the process. Good thing he lost.
Clearing away those thoughts, I went to get ready for the day.
After showering, brushing my teeth, and getting dressed, I curled my hair. When I finished, I walked out my room and went to the kitchen for breakfast. Sitting at the table was my mom dressed for work, eating a granola bar and drinking coffee. She had on the official S.H.I.E.L.D. woman's uniform for the people who took care of the business aspect.
Just as I walked in, she gazed up from her coffee. "Your father had to leave earlier than expected, so he left you something in the microwave."
I nodded, acknowledging her words, and stopped at the cupboard to get a cup. Setting it down on the counter, I poured myself a glass of orange juice and took a sip, savoring the taste of the sweet and tangy liquid. Moving over to the microwave, I opened it and instantly smiled. Inside was a muffin, but not just any kind of muffin. It was a giant blueberry muffin from my favorite bakery that my friend owned. These muffins were the best on the planet. Taking a quick bite and wrapping it with plastic wrap, I decided to eat it later.
Checking the time for the third time today, it read 7:00. Feeling slightly panicked, I ran over to my shoes and put my black boots on. Grabbing my purse and keys, I took one last look at my outfit. It consisted of a dark grey long-sleeved shirt, black pants, and a leather jacket. Picking the clothes took me forever to do but I finally decided a few days ago. I still felt unprepared without knowing what to expect, and worst case scenarios keep running through my mind. A scene of me tripping over air and making a fool of myself is just too embarrassing to think about.
"Honey," my mom said. "Being nervous is natural."
She was right, of course. You see, that's the thing with my mom. She always seemed to know what I was thinking. 'Mother's intuition' she likes to call it.
"I know, Mom. But I just don't want to screw something up."
My mom walked over and gave me a comforting hug and kiss on my forehead. "You're not going to screw anything up, Danielle. If you do, however, no one will say a word to you. They're all smart enough to not insult the Director's daughter."
Laughing at her true last words, the nervousness almost went away. After all, being an intern at SHIELD shouldn't be that tough, right?
