The warm breeze turned cold as the sun drowned into the horizon, taking away the golden hue from the world and leaving the two in the darkness of the night. The wind hit her skin, ridding her of the sweat and cooling her body.

A few drags from the cigarettes in their fingers moved around in front of them, the smoke burning their throats and polluting the air.

They had been lounging in the comfortable silence for a good thirty minutes, no words exchanged like the way they never had all these days. But a feeling in both made them want a conversation.

The silence didn't seem enough now.

"What-"
"You-"
Their synchronised voices broke the tranquility around them, a chuckle leaving their mouth at the coincidence.

A few rounds of 'No you go ahead's later, Jeno spoke first.
"You're doing well in boxing! You almost broke through my defense today"

The praise swelled her confidence, inducing a red hue on her pale skin, no matter how hard she fought against it. Looking away when the corners of the boy's lips tugged up at her blush, she shrugged at his words.

"I didn't do that well. Maybe should've warmed up or something. But thanks, I'll take it"
"You didn't warm up-"
"Anywho, what were you doing at the gym early? You usually join late" She cut his words off, not wanting to get into trouble with the boy.

"I just needed a nap" Getting a nod in response, he changed the topic, thinking it was not interesting enough to continue the conversation.

A question popping in his mind as he searched for a reason to talk to her, he blurted out what had been on his mind ever since he knew the girl.

"What's the deal with the lighter? You don't have to answer if you don't want to" His words making her immediately focus her gaze from the horizon to the piece of metal that sat in her hands. She had been subconsciously flipping the cap on and off the lighter, the sound of the its click brought the boy's attention.

"Oh this old thing?" Her fingers ran over the object's surface, nails dipping into the scratches that appeared under her skin as she continued, " Its just my dad's, boy was he a smoker" Eyes distant as her memories jogged, she gave a half-assed smile to the curious boy.

"Ahh okay. Do you wanna talk about it?"
"No, not really. Why did you start smoking?"
"Ugh Peer pressure. It's getting late though. Can i walk you home?"
"You really don't have to. I can go alone-"
"No no, I insist" Pondering if she really wanted to burden the boy, his face however made her want to agree.

"Um Okay fine. Let's go" Sighing out her response she moved to get up only to be stopped by Jeno.

Lifting himself off the ledge, Jeno stretched a hand out to help Damhee to her feet. The both of them patted their behinds to rid themselves of dust and climbed down the roof, Jeno giving her a hand to make sure she didn't fall off the three storeys.

Pushing open the glass door for the millionth time today, Jeno held it in its place so it doesn't hit Damhee on the way in.

"Let me just grab my stuff then we can get going" Stepping towards her bag, Damhee packed it with her hoodie and water bottle.
The both of them walked into the darkness of the night, their figures illuminated by the dingy street lights that hung above their heads.

The cold expressed the approaching winter, the next few months for Damhee would be fun as she loved the freezing weather.

"Do you like winter?" The query entering her mind as she shivered from the breeze that creeped up her oversized t-shirt.

"Not too much. Autumn is more my style ya know. It's not too cold and not too hot. What about you? "

"Ahhh I like Autumn too, but Winter is my favourite. Something about being wrapped up in a blanket burrito while drinking hot chocolate hits all my comfort spots." A warm smile spread on her lips, her piercing tightening upwards.

"That does sound tempting." A laugh left him as he glanced at the smiling girl who seemed happy compared to earlier that day.

Their footsteps fell in synchrony, the timed steps echoed through the quietness around them. Damhee lifted her head to look at the stars that were barely visible from the pollution of the city but she knew they were there.

What she didn't notice were the eyes of the boy that were observing her. His gaze fell from her long eyelashes that almost hid the whites of her eyes, trailing down to her plump lips that seemed to pout every time she was lost in thought.

"You feeling better?"
"Yeah definitely. I really needed that break. Thank you" Her voice filled with gratitude as she reminisced the events of the day.

"You're welcome Damhee" His eye smile entered her vision, forcing her own eyes to scrunch due to a smile. She didn't expect to be this comfortable with her trainer, someone who she was supposed to be professional with but she seemed to spend more time with him outside the gym.

Her apartment coming into view, the old run down building with its peeling paint reminding her of the bad state she lived in. But she was glad she wasn't walking alone anymore, finally having someone to have a stroll with or even talk to.

"Well that's me. Thanks for walking me home!" Stepping away from the boy, she stopped in her tracks at his voice.

"Damhee, Wait!" Scratching his nape, he hesitated to ask her something.

"Do you maybe want to exchange numbers?" His voice dripping with doubt, only to smile when he saw her nod in excitement. Maybe he expected her to say no, but he never predicted this kind of enthusiasm from the normally quiet girl.

"Of course! Lemme get my phone from my bag" Her hand pushing its way into the bag as it searched for the said device, finally wrapping its fingers around the phone.

Typing his number into her contacts, they waved each other goodbye and went on their way.

He watched her climb the stairs to her floor, leaving as soon as she was safe in her apartment and going to the gym. Freshening up from the workout earlier, he crashed onto his bed, scrolling through his phone like it was his daily routine.

A notification popped in his vision, an unknown number making him question who it was. But he smiled immediately, the thought of Damhee entering his mind.

The both of them went to sleep, something that was routine but it was different this time, the smile on their faces as they drifted into dreamland.
