(Tw: mentions of assault )

[11.02pm]

Walking on the abandoned street, Damhee was quiet to make sure she could hear her surroundings and stay safe from any danger.

She was on her way home from her third part time job and she could barely keep her eyes open, suffering from fatigue.

It had become a daily routine, working days on end without a break just to make enough money to pay for bills. Living in a small one bedroom apartment, Damhee watched life pass by, uneventful and boring.
Moving out at 20 and finding a cheap place to live in had been more hectic than she had expected.

But here she was, on the streets, alone at night with danger lurking in the darkness caused by the lousy street lights failing to do their job.
Flickering, the lights beamed upon her figure, that wore a giant hoodie to cover herself from the cold and the hungry eyes of men watching her at that instance.

Tearing her eyes off the ground, she looked up to glare at the group of men assaulting her with their eyes. Somehow getting encouraged, the 3 men advanced towards her, installing a feeling of dread and fear in the pit of her stomach.

"Well what do we have here? Pretty doll" the first man walking up to her talked, the heavy smell of alcohol and cigarettes hitting her nose made her gag internally as she continued to glare at them.

"Did I call you over? What do you even want, you disgusting person? "  Scowling at his face, Damhee didn't try to back off and show the dread she was feeling.
"Wow she's a spicy one. Don't try to fight back Doll, you're weak and pathetic. I could do anything I want right now and you couldn't even hurt me" The man challenged her as he stepped closer to Damhee.

His hand went up to touch her hair teasingly only to get pushed away by her.
She gave a heavy stamp to his toes making him give out an angry growl.
"Stay away or I'm calling the cops" Damhee yelled as she held out her phone to threaten the three men.

"Doll, you wouldn't dare. The cops won't get here by the time I'm done with you anyway." The man grabbed her throat, shoving her as she fell hard on the ground.
Cutting her arm on shard of glass from a liquor bottle, she felt her blood oozing from the gash.

As she tried to get up, the man pushed her down again with his arms on both sides of her head, confining her.
With a sadistic grin on his face "Like I said Doll, pathetic."
Grabbing her injured hand, he pressed his thumb into the wound, enjoying the way she grimaced from the pain.

Holding her arms so she couldn't move,
He moved his hands down, running them over her body against her consent.

"Doll, you're pretty, why would you hide all this under those baggy clothes"

"Get off me you creep. Is your game that bad that you have to go around forcing girls to sleep with you?" Fighting back, Damhee spat at his face, making him lose his strong grip on her.

Able to move now, Damhee moved her leg to knee him in the groin. As he bent over from the pain, she slammed her bag in his direction, pushing him off and getting up.

She knew he was pissed but so was she. Running away from him was much easier than she expected.

Turns out the other two men were just there for the show as they didn't even try to stop her. Reaching a crowded area, she sighed out of relief noticing the men not following her.

On the other hand, Damhee was still shaken up by the encounter as she stood in front of the police station in case they came back.

She knew working late at night and having to walk in suspicious places to get home would turn against her someday or another. Not wanting to experience that again, she made a decision.
"I need to join self defense classes"
Unfortunately, that meant working more to afford the classes. But that would be the better option than dealing with assault everytime she had to walk home.

[5.17pm]

"I said I don't want to go to college!! Why cant you understand that it's not something I want!? " As he yelled, the boy glared at his father, fuming.

"You have to go son! All this boxing and fighting isn't gonna get you anywhere in life. It's pointless and a waste of time!" His father yelled back, not understanding the boy's words.

"What do you know about it? I can be really good at it if you just let me try" Almost tearing up, the 21 year old boy begged his father to support his decisions.

"I don't think so boy, you've always failed at everything you do. This time isn't gonna be any different. You're just a failure." His father's usual words couldn't help but hurt the boy's self esteem.

Tired of the daily routine, Jeno stormed out of the house, slamming the front door closed.
He walked down the streets, watching the people go about their lives and feeling jealous of the friend groups hanging out or the the ones that seemed content with their days.

If only his dad listened to him.

The evening looked more beautiful than ever. Sky painted in shades of blue and wisps of clouds decorated the view to make the world look beautiful.

There was so much out there and Jeno couldn't help but feel spirited.

Going to his usual cool off spot, the gym, he instinctively grabbed the boxing gloves and punched his anger away.

He knew he was good at this but he just didnt have the money or support to make boxing his career.

"I can't and won't listen to him anymore, I'll prove him wrong"

I'm not a failure
