'Maybe it's best for the both of us.'

Yashiro sat staring out of the classroom window. All that was in her mind was Hanako.

She wondered if he had received her note. He probably had.

She sighed and rested her head on the desk. The leaves were slowly turning brown with the change of seasons.

'How many times has Hanako seen the seasons come and go?'

She sat, tapping her pencil on the textbook in front of her. Class was boring. It was boring without Hanako.

Yashiro really hoped Hanako would become her friend again. She missed his pestering, how he would constantly mess with her in class. At the time, she hated it, but she really missed it now.

She waited for the ring of the school bell that would signify lunch. She needed to go and find Hanako.

Lunch couldn't come any slower. It felt like hours before the bell rang.

When it did, Yashiro was the first one up and out of the classroom.

"Kou, you've not seen Hanako around have you?"
"You asked me that this morning..." Kou laughed and scratched the back of his neck, awkwardly.
"But no, I haven't seen him. Sorry..."
"It's ok."

Yashiro set off down the hallway. Kou watched her go, sighing. She really was adamant about finding the ghost.

She didn't even bother eating her lunch. This was more important to her.

"Hanako?" She called down the empty halls. Everyone was in the cafeteria or outside eating their lunch, so she didn't have to worry about getting caught.

She ran up to the third floor, the only floor that she hadn't checked yet. She crossed her fingers.

"Hanako-?"

She turned the corner, and there, at the end of the hallway, stood the ghost.

Yashiro went silent. Hanako didn't seem to notice her, and it looked like he was trying to feed a Mokke a hard candy.

"Hana-"
"Yashiro?" She was interrupted by someone- and she recognised the voice.

Hanako whipped his head around, and stared at Yashiro, shock written all over his face.

"Yashiro, what are you doing up here?" Itsuki walked over to her from one of the English classrooms.

Yashiro stood, averting her eyes from Hanako to Itsuki.

"Hey, what are you looking at?"
"I-"

She groaned internally. She had just found Hanako, and Itsuki had appeared. Could this have been at a worse time?

"Itsuki, I'm busy right now-"

She looked back towards the end of the corridor, but Hanako had gone. Her sentence trailed off. She turned around to look at Itsuki.

"What do you want?"
"Haha jeez no need to be so rude! I was just helping a student with her English work. No biggie."
Yashiro forced a smile.

"Anyway, I was thinking we could go on another date this weekend. It's Friday so we could go today, to make up for yesterday."

Yashiro struggled to keep the smile on her face.
"Yep, sounds lovely."
"Ok! We can go to the park after school. Don't forget!"
"I won't." Yashiro smiled. A clearly fake smile.
