"Hanako?"

Yashiro felt her heart skip a beat as she laid eyes on- him. He was right there in front of her, just as she remembered him. Every inch of his face, every imperfection and each feature. Everything was the same. Apart from his clothes, as he was dressed in a normal jeans and T-shirt, without his hat or his cape. He looked normal. But he couldn't be normal. That wasn't the focus of Yashiro's mind, though. What mattered was that he was finally back.

She sat frozen in her chair, mouth slightly open in shock and awe. Hanako tilted his head and smiled.

"Hey... is there anyone sitting here?" He repeated, motioning to the desk and chair next to Yashiro's.

Yashiro seemed to break out of her hypnotic state and jumped up, her chair roughly pushing into the desk behind her. Most students turned around to observe the scene. Hanako cocked an eyebrow in confusion before being engulfed in a hug by Yashiro. She launched onto him, grasping him as tight as she possibly could.

"Woah-" Hanako stumbled back into the desk, his bag being knocked off his shoulder. Yashiro didn't care, she only held him tighter.

"Ahem, Amane and Yashiro, if you don't mind, please, take your little... meeting- somewhere other than my classroom." Tsuchigomori said, sternly. Hanako looked over Yashiro's head at him with a sorry smile, Tsuchigomori's face not quite matching his tone. He had a gentle smirk, well aware of the situation between the two. The class however, continued to stare at the couple with confusion littering their faces.

Hanako gently brought his palm up to pat it on Yashiro's back.

"Hey, everyone's staring." He whispered.

Yashiro pulled away slowly, her eyes adjusting to the surrounding students, all eyes on her. Her face turned a beet red- dreading the attention and questions she would receive throughout the oncoming day. Any words got caught in her throat as she stepped back, totally embarrassed. She shook her head and pushed her hair out of her face.

"Sorry."
"Don't be. Come with me."

Hanako reached down and picked up his bag off the floor, which looked about 20 years old with how tattered it was. He grabbed Yashiro's hand without a second thought, and pulled her through the desks, trying to avoid the class' nosy eyes watching the pair. Their watchful eyes followed them- and Yashiro was all too aware. Her first interaction with Hanako after three months just had to be totally embarrassing, didn't it?

The sliding door clicked shut behind the two, but Hanako never let go of her hand. Instead, he continued walking, not saying a word. He was in front of Yashiro as she trailed behind him, so his expression was hidden to her. He was just as excited as she was, if not more, but he was certainly able to hide it.

"Hanako-" Yashiro tried to hold him back so they could speak. But, Hanako wasn't having it, and he continued to drag her through the halls, all the while lazily attempting to hide his growing smile and reddening cheeks.

"Hanako... have you shrunk?"
"What!? No, I'm just- not floating anymore!" He stammered.

Yashiro giggled in response as the pair picked up their pace and headed towards their spot.

The bathroom door was flung open and the two stepped inside. The winter sun beamed through the window, it's stained glass casting the room with an orange glow, similar to that of Hanako's eyes. Yashiro's favourite colour. Though, she didn't have much time to process her surroundings.

Hanako turned around and pushed Yashiro against the bathroom door, forcing it shut, with enough care as to not hurt her, but enough strength to give Yashiro butterflies that she had waited for, for so long.

He grasped her cheeks with both hands and crashed his lips onto hers without a second of hesitation. Yashiro's eyes widened in surprise and shock, but they gently fluttered shut as she melted into the kiss, that long forgotten feeling of such passion and love washing over her.

It was so gentle but so rough, a combination that made both Yashiro's and Hanako's hearts beat wildly.

It only took her a few seconds to notice it.

Yashiro gently placed her palm on Hanako's chest as he pulled away. Only centimetres away from her face, Hanako was met with a surprised and confused expression.

"Hanako- your heart- is beating?"
"Uhm... yeah?"
"And you- your lips are warm?"
"Is... that a good thing?"

Yashiro stared at him blankly. It took a little while for her to register him, how he was really there, right with her, inches away from her. How he was just as he had always been, just warmer and- more human.

"Oh my god you're really here."

Yashiro leaned forward and wrapped her arms around his torso and squeezed him tight. Hanako let out a surprised chuckle and held her back, basking in her presence and soaking up her warmth. It was a feeling Hanako loved more than anything else in the world.

"I see you missed me." He mentioned.
"I could say the same about you."

The two laughed softly with each other, never letting go. Yashiro listened to the beating of Hanako's heart like it was her favourite song playing on repeat. She found it practically impossible to wipe the smile off her face, not that she wanted to.

Hanako squeezed his eyes shut and held onto her, all of his love for her surging through him harder than it had ever done before, and he was sure of it.

It didn't take much longer for him to reach for her chin and pull it up with his forefinger, locking their eyes for a brief, tender moment before clashing their lips together again, something Hanako nor Yashiro could ever get enough of. Hanako's hand slipped down to Yashiro's waist as he pulled her body closer to his, tilting his head to push his eager lips further onto her sweet, sugary ones. Yashiro smiled into it, enjoying every moment as if it was their first kiss in a million years. Her stomach erupted into a plethora of fluttering butterflies, her cheeks warming and her mind going fuzzy. Their kiss deepened, and Yashiro sure as hell wasn't going to end it.

Hanako pulled back with a soft pop, reluctant to do so, but he needed air. Something he hadn't needed in god knows how long. The couple kept their eyes shut for a few more moments, catching their breaths. Hanako rested his forehead against hers, his hand still lingering on his waist and the feeling of her lips still prominent in his mind. He opened his eyes slowly, just as she did. The magenta met the amber, and Hanako felt himself practically die inside.

"God, you have no idea how long I've waited for that." He whispered in a hoarse voice.
"I second that."

The two enveloped in a loving hug, Hanako savouring Yashiro's gentle arms around him and Yashiro savouring the familiar sense of his warm body holding her.

It was all that they'd wanted and more. Hanako could finally be with her like a normal boy.

"So, we have a lot of catching up to do..." He murmured.
"That can wait."
"Mm, you're right."

Yashiro smiled and rested her head against Hanako's chest, finally content and happy after what felt like forever.
