Silence.
No one dared to speak a single word. After being brought back to the room with the surreal amount of bunkbeds, everyone was processing what happened. There were about half of the people left from before, and it was scary knowing that that amount of people were gone within barely an hour.
As I sat on the floor, Nico was next to me. I think he was trying to comfort me but mainly get the blood off of my face from previous events. Near us were Gi-hun and a man who's name is I believe Sang-woo? I can't be sure but right now, I don't care. They were exchanging a few words but I wasn't paying attention.
"Y/n, you okay there?" I flinch a bit but turn to face Nico as I feel his hand on my shoulder.
"Of course. I mean, we just came back from playing a children's game and almost died. Oh, and to add, I've got someone's blood on my face and we just witnessed just a few murders. Other than that, I feel great! What about you?" Pointing out to him, like it wasn't obvious.
"Look I-"
Beep!
The same metal doors open, catching the attention of everyone in the room. Out comes once again, nine guards but instead of circle masks, they're wearing triangular ones and they're all holding guns. Everyone stands, waiting for their next move.
"All of you have made it through the first game. Congratulations. Let me announce the results of the first game." The man with the square mask speaks, with a flat voice almost as if everything going on was normal
Redirecting my focus, above him was a big sign with the number 456, which used to represent the players. The number goes down, each time more painful than the last.
201.
"Out of 456 players, 201 players completed the first game"
Gasps were heard through the room, in shock as well as me. Some frozen, some hyperventilating, and some even crying.
"Sir! I'm so sorry! I'll make sure I pay off my debts! I'll pay them off at all costs!" A lady with curly hair sobs while getting on her knees and starts begging for her life, "Please, sir! I have... A child! I haven't even registered my baby's birth because I haven't named my baby yet. Please let me live!"
More and more people slowly start getting on their knees, apologizing for their mistakes in hopes to be let go.
"There seems to be a misunderstanding. We are not trying to hurt you or collect your debts. Let me remind you that we're here to give you a chance" The guard speaks up which seems to set people off. I don't blame them.
A chance? It's not a very fair one. They say we would win money but death if we failed was never mentioned.
"A chance? You call this a chance? You kill us while making us play kids games! How is this a chance?" A guy barked at the masked man, not caring of consequences "We may be in debt, but we don't deserve to die!" This man is more scared, and shaken up, not as confident.
"This is a simple game. They were simply eliminated for breaking the rules of the game. If you just follow the rules, you can leave this place safely with the prize money we promised." The man explains
"Consent from clause 1: A player is not allowed to stop playing" the guard explains.
As if everyone's greed disappeared, they were no longer focused on the money but instead their lives and getting out. Voices are heard through the room arguing all at once. A man started going on about how they would be tracked by the police and we would all be saved. Many people argued how they would be caught doing so but something tells me this isn't their first time. The voices get louder and louder until
