There will be a slight pov change towards the end so watch out for that
Trigger warning: slight mentions of suicide
Music starts playing throughout the room. Bright lights click on as I groggily start opening my eyes. As my eyes start slowly adjusting to the light, I can see some pink guards holding a box.
What happened?
As I go to follow where the guards are going, a hand is covered in front of my eyes. "What are you doing?" I mutter with a sore throat from behind the hand. I go to move it, but it won't budge.
"You don't want to see. Trust me." Sae-byeok answers with a slightly panicked voice. I'm confused before an announcement goes off.
"Player 69, eliminated."
I can see the lights go dim as a gold light is produced in the front. As Sae-byeok removes her hand, I look over to where the guards were walking. There's nothing there but some rope hanging from the bedpost.
Oh.
I look at Sae-byeok and she looks at me, just as worried. She gently places her hand on mine, rubbing my palm with her thumb.
"The fifth game will begin momentarily. All players follow the staff's instructions and proceed to the game hall."
There is slightly happy music playing in the back of the announcer's voice, which makes me feel uneasy.
As we are led to the colorful stairs, I stay right behind Sae-byeok wanting to feel some sort of protection.
"Stay with me. I want to keep you safe." She speaks in a stern voice as I give her a reassuring smile and nod slightly.
We are brought into another white room, but slightly different. In front of us, there are mannequins with vests on them.
17 of them.
The guards stood scattered around the room with guns, not moving. "Welcome to the fourth game. Before we begin the game please choose a mannequin before you, numbered 1 through 17."
No one moved.
Suddenly, someone moved. The man, who prayed and prayed, chose the sixth vest because God created the world. Then another went up and grabbed the number seven, lucky number.
Everyone started running towards the middle number, getting the vests as soon as they could.
Once those were taken, there was only the first four and last five left, leaving all of us stuck.
"Attention please," The announcement caused me to slightly jump, "the numbers in front of you is the order you will be playing in. Please choose carefully."
From next to me, Gi-hun moved towards the number one. Looking back at the end numbers, I decided to go with number sixteen, leaving seventeen last and fifteen in front of me. As I grabbed the vest, I see someone from the corner of my eye taking vest number fifteen.
Sae-byeok grabs the vest before putting it on. "I've got to protect you somehow." Tightening the straps to it, she looks up at me smiling very slightly. Gi-hun comes up next to us, taking vest number seventeen.
We all line up in our number orders, waiting to go to the next game. As the magenta doors in front of us open, the announcer's voice begins to speak and soft music begins to play. "Players, welcome to the fifth game." As we all fit into the room, it looks like the inside of an old fashioned theater. "The fifth game is glass stepping stones. Each stepping stone is made of one of two types of glass, tempered glass and normal glass." Lights are spinning around the room, making it hard to see in front of me once it reaches my eyes. "Tempered glass is strong enough to hold the weight of two people. However, normal glass will break if even one person steps on it."
